KipWellsFan
courtesy cbc.ca NEW YORK (AP) - A 25-year-old from Georgia who was apparently distraught over President George W. Bush's re-election shot and killed himself at ground zero. Andrew Veal's body was found Saturday morning inside the off-limits site, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found nearby, but no suicide note was found, Coleman said. Veal's mother said her son was upset about the result of the presidential election and had driven to New York, Gus Danese, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association, said in an interview published Sunday in the New York Times. Friends said Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry. "I'm absolutely sure it's a protest," Mary Anne Mauney, Veal's supervisor at the lab, told the New York Daily News. "I don't know what made him commit suicide, but where he did it was symbolic." Police were investigating how Veal entered the former World Trade Center site, which is protected by high fences and owned by the Port Authority. Palehosefan
He had to be a sick man, killing yourself and taking yourself away from God for eternity all because GWII was re-elected. That is truly depressing and sad.
AngelasDaddy0427
s***, Talk about extreme. I hate Bush as much as anyone but i'd never kill myself over it.
The Critic
Kinda defeats the purpose of a protest if you don't leave a note.... Very sad that they guy didn't value his own life more than that, though.
KipWellsFan
I'm obviously not going out on a limb here but I'd assume he had more troubles in his life that just Dubya.

Probably, but it seems he took this political loss a bit too hard.
DonkeyKongerko
Whatever he was trying to prove, I don't think many people got it. Suicide just doesn't make sense, ever.

The Critic
We had a walk out at our school last week...it was kinda sad I mean you can't reverse the election...the people have spoken? I see no problem with a walkout. Even if it's sour grapes, it's still OK in my book to express your disappointment. This is still America, where we supposedly have freedom of expression even if your opinion doesn't agree with the majority.
