southsider2k5
Well either they better be kicking in Oliver Perez, or the Pirates better be kicking in some cash.... Jermaine Dye, no thanks.
jasonxctf
Dye hit .265 last year with 23 HR and 80 RBI with a .329 OBP. Kendall hit .319 last year with 3 HR and 51RBI with a .399 OBP. Dye doesn't seem to fit the high OBP, small-ball mold KW is looking for.
southsideirish
why no on Jermaine Dye? He is a Sox killer. I would not mind seeing him in RF one bit.
WHarris1
KENDALL! Yeah, baby. The MLB Off-Season: where only .001% of your dreams come true.
toasty
Dye doesn't seem to fit the high OBP, small-ball mold KW is looking for. kw has said that you have to keep the home ballpark in mind when dealing with the offense... he wants some power to go with the small ball
toasty
saw on prosportsdaily.com that RED sox are interested in omar, too... i like rotoworld's assessment of redsox ss for next year tho: JOSE!

Hmm...that would be interesting because everything I hear is that Omar is as good as ours.
toasty
only thing that scares me is they might give more money
CWSGuy406
If Dye would come cheap, I'd definitely go for him. IMHO, he'd replace Paul Konerko very nicely (offensive production wise), and I think he'd really tee off here at the Cell... Kendall, I like, if they eat a lot of his salary from the backend of that ridiculous contract.

A guy like Theo Epstein who goes out and trades a superstar and Boston hero in Orlando Cabrera solely for defensive purposes will not sign Jose Valentin. Take that crap with a grain of salt. redandwhite
I immediately threw out trying to sign Jermaine Dye, but if the money's right, I want him.
The_Godfather
bruce levine reporting sox interested in jason kendall, and jermaine dye Wouldn't mind having those two at all. Kendall solves two holes for us Catcher and leadoff man. Althought I have my concerns with Dye staying healthy he would put up monster numbers here at the cell. I could live with it though. If we bring in Dye what do we do with Everett though Thomas is a Lock at DH, unless they move him to 1B which I dont see happening since they want to shore up our D. Maybe Lee takes over at 1B and everett moves over to LF I know I read somewhere that Lee plays 1B during fielding drills. Should be interesting to see what comes of this. Take that crap with a grain of salt. Jose will be with Boston, LA, or NY next season. Book it.
Sox1422
Who do the Sox trade in a deal for Kendall? I would assume they would still need to rid themselves of a heavy contract even if Pitt. pays for some of Kendall's contract. I would love to have Kendall. Get Omar too and that is a nice top of the order.
Kalapse
Kendall is good.

Jermaine Dye, no thanks. oliver perez, are you kidding? even the pirates wouldnt trade a young, stud SP. unless we give them like lee and pay his entire salary no way in hell we get perez
santo=dorf
saw on prosportsdaily.com that RED sox are interested in omar, too... i like rotoworld's assessment of redsox ss for next year tho: JOSE! I was in a chat room with Peter Gammons at boston.com, and he said the Red Sox are going to have to re-sign Cabrera because Vizquel (their back up plan) is pretty much going to sign with the White Sox. beck72
If the Sox got Kendall, I'd be content if they signed Scott Schoenweis to be the 5th SP!! A bit of an exagerration, but he'd solve a lot of the offensive woes.

You actually have to stop and think like a team with a budget for a second. Look what they did in the Cubs in the Ramirez deal and tell me again what they won't do to save some money... AngelasDaddy0427
I'd take Kendal even if they didn't kick in that much money. A catcher that does all that he does is worth every penny. Honestly if you are willing to give Randy Johnson 16 Mil :puke then we should be more then happy to pay Kendall what he's worth.
toasty
maybe we could send everett to pitt in the deal... and oh... perhaps demand josh fogg back
CWSGuy406
If Kenny pulls the trigger on a trade for Kendall, I really hope that he has Pitt eat 3-4 million. IIRC, at the end of Kendall's contract, he's making right around 12 million -- and while Kendall is a solid players, he's not a 12 million dollar player. I'd tell you what I would do... Kendall + Reliever (Gonzalez would be real nice, but probably a dream) for Konerko + Low level prospect. Maybe it's a dream (the above trade), but what do you guys think?
