Chisoxfn
If the Sox don't go the route of one of the 1/2/3's out their. You have Paul Wilson who pitched very well for the Reds last year. Guys like Wilson Alvarez, Paul Byrd, Jaret Wright, and then David Wells (not a 4 or 5, but he's not a guy thats been mentioned and he probably wouldn' be welcome back in Chicago, but he had a good year last season with the Pads, of course it was a pitchers park). All I'm saying is, if the Sox do go the route of dealing Garland, you could pick up one of these guys. Plus of course Elo or someone else. The price tags will very on all, but you'd have to think at least a few of them will be able to signed to very affordable one year deals. Me, I'd deal Contreras before I dealt Garland. Chisoxfn
I'll add the Rockmeister Rocky Biddle to this list since he was cut. I'm implying it to be a minor league contract with a shot at one of the back end bullpen spots. Two years ago he was solid and he was always well liked by the fans. fathom
I believe Biddle had elbow or shoulder surgery and will be out all of next year.

Is it a sure thing that Williamson's out next year? I can't find anything definite.
qwerty
Is it a sure thing that Williamson's out next year? I can't find anything definite. Rotoworld says that he will be out most of the year if not all of it. Here is where they got the information from. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...articleid=48822
jackie hayes
What about Ron Villone? Mariners want to resign him, though.

Here is where they got the information from. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view...articleid=48822 Thanks, I've been looking for something like this. The way he pitched at the end of the season, maybe he should have left the elbow as-is. (J/k) Is it absurd to think the Sox could sign him to a Lieber-type deal, 2 years, low salary in the first year, middle low-range (but all guaranteed) in the 2nd year? The Sox have always been interested in him, and he could conceivably be ready to pitch at the end of 2005 (if the article's right).
