The left-hander dominated at Bristol during his first season in 2003, striking out 59 over 47 innings while posting a 1.79 ERA. He finished the year at Class A Kannapolis, and pitched most of 2004 for the Intimidators. In 37 games and 51 innings, Castro fanned 44 and allowed just 44 hits while finishing with a 4-0 record and 3.00 ERA. He continued his move up the system with six solid innings for Class A Winston-Salem. While pitching in the Dominican Republic, Castro carries a 2-0 record with a sparkling 1.20 ERA over 16 games.
