HuskyCaucasian
Man, jim gray was trembling while reporting on the incident. That's f***ed up. He was having a real hard time getting a thought up. He was shaken. I should note that he made a referance to be right next to Artest while Artest was laying on the scorers table. So, if that is true then Gray was literally in the middle of it all. I would be shaken too.
Gene Honda Civic
where was this guy? I missed that part. Who did he beat on and where? He was mostly off camera, according to Gray he was "credentialed". He was easily 300 pounds. He had Freddie Jones restrained with one arm, and was pummeling him in the side of the head with his free hand/balled-fist.
santo=dorf
Fight.of.the.year. Better than that Bulls fight a couple weeks ago.... Better than the flub fans and Dodgers fight back in 2000 too.

Artest fouls Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace shoves Artest as hard as he possbily can. Artest keeps cool and avoids that whole alteraction by laying on the scorers table while there is a scrum with some DET and IND players. Then some fan comes in and throws a bottle at Artest. He snaps, jumps up and runs into the stand. The rest was just a riot.
Flash Tizzle
Steven A. Smith is attempting to rationalize this incident and protect the NBA. It's pathetic. I wish someone can throw beer on this idiot. "These basketball players are PROTECTING themselves." Plastic cups have sharp edges these days, you know. A plastic cup is no threat to injure you, a bottle would be. If it was a bottle then Artest may have been justified, for a plastic cup, not so much. Also, if he just layed there in all likelyhood more s*** would have been thrown at him.
WHarris1
s*** a ref got a huge shot to the head with a cup full of something. Damn that would hurt like hell.
WHarris1
Come on people think? What's gonna happen when you throw something at a player who is in the heat of a battle. THINK!
Flash Tizzle
ESPN Basketball crew has suggested the NBA install nets between the floor and court, and removal of courtside seats. Was Wrigley Field under this much scrutiny following their brawl?
whitesoxfan99
It almost got him square in the face. Also, if he just layed there in all likelyhood more s*** would have been thrown at him. Its still a plastic cup. Plus, he has more than just the option of going into the stands or laying there, he walks away end of incident. And if you do go into the stands, you better be damn sure that you at least go after the culprit, Jim Gray is saying that the guy who Artest went after was not the person who threw the cup. So basically Artest assaulted an innocent bystander, but lets keep defending him.

WHarris1
But did he charge the stands?????? No, he doesn't have teamate to defend. He didn't just almost get in a fight with a player on the other team. He wasn't already riled up.

So basically Artest assaulted an innocent bystander, but lets keep defending him. yeah according to Gray, the first thrower was the guy in the white hat, who actually pulls Artest off of the kid with the glasses... at first, white hat guy is just trying to protect the other kid, but then he uses his free hand to land a few punches on Artest. NUKE_CLEVELAND
The best part IMO is when the pacers are getting escorted off the court and getting totally pelted with beer and garbage. Priceless!
