Nick Johnson could become available

Johnson is a strong lefty bat with potential there's no doubt, but he is oft injured. Konerko is not that much older than Nick J. and he's much more a threat with the bat and is established as an all-star caliber player. Plus I doubt that he will really get thrown out at 1B on a hard hit ball to RF as was stated in another post.

*At home*, Konerko is an All-Star caliber player. Unfortunately, you play 81 road games too. Johnson would be an absolutely awesome pickup, IMHO.

If you can get him fairly cheap, I'd definitely love the pickup.

WTF is up with this s***? Why the f*** is it ok around here to use a derogatory term, and sterotype, for people who happen to live south of the Mason Dixon line?  What's next?  Are we going to start throwing around terms like k***, s***, n*****, Dago, Kraut, Mick, f*****, etc.

I mean, if this kind of stuff is acceptable around here, just tell me.  I can sling vile filthy degrading sterotypes around too. If not, then MurcieOne .... please refrain from any and all discriminatory remarks.  Not just those of your choosing.  Thank you.

It's interesting you chose you associate hillbilles with southerners...... Did I call them southern hillbillies... I dont think i did. If anyone is discriminating i'd say it be you.

If I insulted you.... you have my deepest apologies...

Hey Mo Vaughn, trade Value is low too maybe we can get him also...

Just look at his numbers they are HUGE, I mean you have to take risks right?

I've finally figured out the secret to your username.

The 93 symbolizes the year you were born, thus making you 11 years old, much too young for an internet message board.

Concerning Gibbons, I would not mind him. If we could swing a deal where we grab one of their relievers and maybe Hairston, I would be more than happy. Gibbons is a guy we could use off the bench at a few positions. He would be able to play 1B, LF, and RF IIRC. For the right price, I wouldn't object. I wouldn't go out of my way to deal for him though.

Imo, wait till Gibbons is non-tendered. Bmore is going to add at least one more bat and Gibbons is going to be the guy that is ousted. I'm sure Baltimore will try and deal him, but when time comes he's gonna get non-tendered, imo.

Gonna be a good pickup too.

Anthrax.

Just some info, the Administration here at Soxtalk decided a few months ago to suspend people on occasion who resort to personal attacks.

Please keep that in mind when you disagree with others here.

Does anyone have the link to that thread to back me up?

No, but I can already tell you some suspensions/warnings will be coming. But first I got to finish reading this thread.

Thats fine, but I was not the one who started the personal attacks,, ever since I came onto these boards All i hear about is how

OC..aka Godlike player would not fit onto the Sox because ..I still trying to figure that out...

Then we want Polacno,. who would fit maybe on the Barons..

and now I hear about Nick Johnson.. if you fail in Triple-a Montreal, thats pretty sad..

I sprry I hirt your feelings. and I make sure to soften the reality of MLB

Thats fine, you can have your opinion that its wrong. I know RedandWhite and I both are fans of Cabrerra. I have my disagreements of whether he's worth what he's asking for, just like I think Renteria isn't worth anywhere near 10 million a year.

But we discuss it, we don't just call people dips***s because we disagree with the opinion. I'm of the belief that Polanco would be a solid pickup at the right price. He's done nothing but produce at the major league level the past couple seasons and he's thought of as a leader.

He was loved in St. Louis and he's loved in Philly.

And as far as Nick Johnson goes. He's had a ton of health issues and thats the only thing thats prevented him from putting up big numbers. He's a left handed bat that should hit .270-.280 when healthy, probably higher, and also draws a ton of walks.

He'd be a great pickup and if I recall Kenny was interested in Johnson in times past.

See, I just disagreed with you, but it was in a completely respectful manner that adds to the conversation. You could very well be right, but we both have our opinions and I'm not going to bash you because of your opinion, rather I'll give my reasons why its wrong without ever resorting to an attack.

Want to say I locked this thread. Its not because their wasn't good baseball discussion, but I don't want the personal attacks to continue. Actions were made and I think the board will be back to normal :)

Anyway, I am going to split off the original post so people can discuss the idea of Johnson more :)
