Queen Prawn
What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? Is anyone trying something new for their part of Thanksgiving dinner? I am bringing my usual pumpkin bread and for a new dish to our table I am making home-made cranberry-orange relish (where is a lip-smacking smiley when ya need one? ). I don't know which is my favorite - stuffing, turkey or the sweet potatoes.
greasywheels121
How about all of the above....This is going to be my first home cooked meal since August....I'm going to slam! There's going to be no leftovers when I leave...Either I'm taking them with me, or everything's been eaten.
Soxy
Either the stuffing or the potatoes--go carbs!!!
CWSGuy406
Has anyone tried deep-frying their turkey? My family has been interested in trying it (not this year), but from what I've heard, it's very delicious. Anyone ever have it? As for favorite Thanksgiving dish. Sweet potatoes are a definite favorite of mine. And then there's the turkey. Probably the best food of the year comes within these next two months... FlaSoxxJim
Has anyone tried deep-frying their turkey? My family has been interested in trying it (not this year), but from what I've heard, it's very delicious. Anyone ever have it? Yes, it is indeed excellent. You only have to be careful not to dry out the turkey, pay attention to the weight and don't overcook it. I'm going to try something new and roast a turkey on the gas grill for the first time. Alton Brown and Wolfgang Puck bothhad good brine marinade recipes on their thanksgiving shows, so we're going to soak the turkey overnight in a honey and maple brine and slow roast over onions and celery and carrots with apples and aromatic spices in the body cavity. As for a fav Thanksgiving sidedish, I'm partial to that French fried onion green bean casserole that for whatever reason you only eat for thanksgiving. NUKE_CLEVELAND
Turkey day is called that for a very good reason. Stuffing is awesome as well.
The Critic
Good luck on that FLA - I saw that Good Eats episode and I was droooooooooooling.... Good Eats, by the way, one of my favorite shows on TV - funny, informative in more ways than one, and usually VERY drool-inducing. My favorite T-Day food is of course, THE BIRD. And my mother-in-law makes a sweet corn casserole that is awesome!
FlaSoxxJim
Yeah, Good Eats has surpassed Jamie Oliver's show on Food as one of my favorites too. I don't know if it will ever knock Iron Chef from the top spot though, for pure entertainment value.

I like how he explains the "science" side of cooking - it helps me to remember to use certain ingrediants (sp?) while cooking...
AngelasDaddy0427
My favorite is the Turkey and the stuffing when it's made inside the bird (like my mom makes it). I miss living at home! Seriously though fried turkey is just nasty to me. I mean we don't eat enough fried s*** we have to add turkey to it... :puke
