witesoxfan
We will not land Pavano. He's a good pitcher, but I do not see it happening. He wants a 4 year deal IIRC, for about $10 mill per(or maybe even more then that). JR will no longer give out deals of more then 3 years to any pitcher, and I think he'd be even more skeptical knowing that Pavano has only had 1 real good full year, that he did it in a pitcher's park, and that he has been injury prone in years past. If he could get him for 3-years, $24 mill with an option for the 4th, I don't think JR would hesitate...too bad that's not gonna happen. I see us landing RJ or Kendall, quite honestly...and that's our biggest move of the offseason. Unless of course KW gets creative and finds a way to land both

AddisonStSox
Sexon is moving on. The Sox should prioitize Kendall. Randy is nothing but a pipe dream at this point. For some odd reason, I invision the 2005 Sox with either Kevin Brown (just a hunch) on the roster or Vazquez. Pavano had a great meeting with the folks in Boston. He left feeling really appreciated and valued, and I think that is ultimately where he wants to end up. He grew up only a few hours away. We are not in the Pavano hunt, luckily, Kenny realized this early and has seemingly moved on.
Kalapse
Kendall is good.
Punch and Judy Garland
I wouln't necessarily count us out on Pavano yet. He claims he won't sign anywhere for one month. If some of our trade proposals fall through and the Sox don't target Odalis as they should, I could see Kenny making a bid on Pavano. I think he would offer around 3/36. I'm sure it would have our usual arrays of deferrments and it would be backloaded to a certian extent so i don't think he'll sing here but I bet we become players. If the Sox grabbed either Polanco or an outfielder and grabbed Perez I would find that an acceptable offseason. I know we're all hoping for more but a really good starter would leave us in a position to fill other needs in June.
toasty
there must be a way to get kendall without pk.... then using pk in package for the big unit.... see, kendall trade should help team image as contenders, or at least serious about contending. either that or signing renteria or polanco oh.... maybe, just maybe if all else fails, sox can sign herbert perry to play 2nd! striker
I think he would offer around 3/36. I hope you are not talking about giving an unproven pitcher a 3 year $36 million dollar contract. No way will that happen. Anyone that gives him over 3 year $27 million dollar deal is nuts.
Punch and Judy Garland
I'm not sure that he's an unproven pitcher. He won 18 games and has pitched on a world series champion. His track record isn't long enough for my taste but unproven is a false label. He will beat $9 a year over 3 on the market in my opinion. He is not exactly unproven but he is not deserving of a ten million dollar plus contract per year. Which i think you may agree with me on. Punch and Judy Garland
You're exactly right. He's unproven/proven the way that Adrian Beltre is. I don't know that he's worth $10 million. If he goes 18-8 he might be. I just think that ONE of the 30 teams (or however many there are right now) will find him worthy of that price. I would rather go 3/21 at Odalis but that remains to be seen.
YASNY
Unproven: The guy has had one really successful season. Has he gotten over the hump and just starting a run of quality seasons or was he a one year wonder that will revert back to form. Proven: A solid veteran that has proven he can be a consistant winner. But, is the wear and tear starting to get to him. Is he beginning to break down? If not, when will he? Do you sign him to a multi-year deal. Roll the dice, folks. It's a crap shoot either way.
CubKilla
Are you serious? The Sox aren't interested cause Pavano is due to make $$$$$. End of story.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Are you serious? The Sox aren't interested cause Pavano is due to make $$$$$. End of story. Dollar Bill Wirtz doesn't have a whole lot to do these days so he's been giving seminars on how to run a sports franchise to JR. Either that or JR was jealous when his White Sox and Bulls weren't more competitive with the Slackhawks for worst run franchise in sports.
