I just want to say I called ISU's wins over Oklahoma and Texas in my blog. Not convincingly, but here's what I said before the OU game:

For the heck of it....

I'll predict an ISU win today. This isn't based on any use of the brain at all, I just want to feel optimistic for once. Maybe Homan and Stinson above 20, Blalock above 15 and Staple and Clark in double digits en rotue to an 82-78 win? Let's go with it.....

Wow, being an ISU fan is depressing lately. Anything can happen at Hilton, I suppose.

ISU won 74-66.

at Texas:

Iowa State @ Texas, 3PM

I'm feeling giddy again, and I'm wearing my lucky ISU shirt. Why don't we predict another win and see if lightning strikes twice, albeit in different places. ISU 68 UT 65. Just for giggles.

ISU won 92-80 (ot) and broke a 28 game road conference losing streak.

I'll just go ahead and predict a White Sox WS win too.

Salukis lose by 5 at Northern Iowa. Had feed over the internet but announcers were talking about the refs not being too good. Salukis going to the whole and getting hammered. Stats says that Salukis had 11 fouls on them in the 2nd half an Northern Iowa only had 5. Northern Iowa had 3 but than took a couple so Southern couldn't get any good looks. Wish I could of seen for myself.

I just saw a hilarious stat. JJ Redick leads the nation in least fouls per minutes played. Apparently he gets a foul called on him once every 41 minutes of play. That leads the nation by a wide margin. Compare that to the rest of the ACC guards, even on his team, like Ewing, McCants, Paul, Gray all average 1 foul for about every 9 minutes of play. Does anyone else find that odd that a guy can play in an aggressive man-to-man defense that Duke plays and foul ONCE not even every game?

Not to mention how many offensive fouls he should be called for.

I got a pretty good theory as to why he doesn't foul. I'm going to admit that I don't pay enough attention to this whenever I watch a Duke game to verify it, but judging from their lineup and what I have seen, I think it is fairly accurate. Reddick simply doesn't play the same harrassing defense that is typical of Duke. Look at Dockery and Ewing. They get much more fouls and have twice as many steals per game. They play some tough defense, but I don't see myself saying the same thing about Reddick. Another factor is the lineups of other teams. Very few teams have three quality perimeter players that one has to guard, allowing Duke to put Dockery and Ewing on the tougher assignments while putting Reddick on a less demanding assignment. For instance, you wouldn't see him matched up against Chris Paul or Justin Gray, or against John Gilchrist or Chris McCray, at least if Coach K has a choice in the matter. Because this other option does not have the ball in his hands as much and is not as big a part of the other team's offense, there are not as many opportunities to commit fouls. I'm going to try to watch this in the upcoming North Carolina game. I'd be shocked if he sees much time guarding Felton or McCants. I would expect he gets Manuel or Scott barring foul trouble for the other two Duke guards.

Yep Zoom thats part of the reason. I realized he's not gonna get as many foul calls on him as Ewing, Dockery, etc. But to not even get a foul called on you once a game is just crazy. Especially when you consider the fact he leads the ACC in minutes played a game. He has 20 steals on the season and 17 fouls called.

Compare that to his teammate Daniel Ewing who is a very nice defender and 3rd in the ACC in steals, Ewing averages 2.2 steals a game and 3.1 fouls a game. Jamont Gordon from VT leads the ACC with 2.61 steals a game, but 2.9 fouls a game.

I just don't think I have ever seen a player that averaged more steals than fouls, especially one that plays 36+ mpg. I'm just amazed at what he gets away with on the court, that even his teammates like Ewing don't. Watch Redick's patented "forearm shiver" that magically leaves him open for 3 everytime. He actually got it called for a foul in the GT game, I was absolutely shocked.

Looking pretty ugly so far and Douglys already talking s*** even though he knows absolutly nothing about the ILLINI.

Please take it to AIM if you're just going to talk s***. There's no reason to start a b**** thread here. We know Indiana's not going to win today. You can't expect much without Bracey in the lineup. Illinois is a great team, and they definitely have a great shot of finishing the regular season undefeated. However, I don't think I'd say they're my pick to win it all yet.

Nice finish to the half for the Hoosiers after a terrible start.

I'm impressed. The defense is dominating this game on both sides. It's not pretty, but to be down 6, starting 4 freshmen, and being on the road at the #1 place is pretty good.

Well, congrats to Illinois. I don’t think anyone had doubts who was going to win this game. However, I’m not too upset with how we played today. They didn’t get beat as bad as I thought we would with Bracey being out. I was really pleased w/ Vaden today; he’s had a consistent season. However, nothing was very stand out; he really stepped it up when Bracey went out against PSU and today against Illinois.

I agree. Although they struggled at times, which was expected, they battled and never looked "beaten". I hate that things are such that we can be satisfied with a double digit loss to Illinois, but that is they way things are today. Illinois is very good and IU is in transition.

I really think that Davis will end up getting fired after this season. I hope that whoever the new coach is, will be able to keep the players there. I do think there is a good nucleus, but sadly, I don't think Davis will be around to see it come to fruition.

I've been doing a lot of Davis supporting of late. I really want him to be here next year. I just can't wait to see Killer and White down low with these freshmen. I think Wright's going to be back now. Also, this was brought up in the last IndyStar column. The Knight backers are f***tarded. The people that say Davis took Knight's players to the final four, na uh. Who was the recruiter of those players? Davis. Who's system was that? Davis'. Also that argument should go over to Texas Tech. The Knight backers that say he's doing a good job at Texas Tech. He didn't recruit those players. The whole argument should be moot.

Ugly, ugly game all around. Illinois just seemed lifeless after we got a decent lead. Vaden is pretty good. DJ showed some flashes, i liked his play as well.

The strategy of eating up the shot clock almost every possession by you guys seemed like a good one. No one really got hot, or hit any momentum changing threes, to really give us a scare though.

23-0, off to Michigan tuesday.
