Good point, i realize that Rex, but this is Michigan. Not only are we not playing physically well, we're playing like assclowns mentally. No excuse for that part.

But that is my point. Teams get upset because they aren't ready to play mentally and they get surprised. That is why it is so difficult to go unbeaten, even if you are talking just in conference play. Somebody usually sneaks up and bites you in the ass when least expected.

Champaign breathes its collective exhale.

Ugly Win. That's two ugly wins in a row.

I'm not liking this current trend; we've set season lows in points, in two consecutive games now.

They have to pick it up. You can't turn it on and off in the Big Ten. Season ain't over yet.

W

On the other hand, and then there was one.

The only undefeated team in the land.

This one ain't gonna be close.

Hey, Hey now, I never said I "thought" we were going to lose.

I dreamt it.

I "thought" we were going to win by a landslide. :P

I was mistaken.

Don't think. It can only hurt the ballclub!

I'd say it applies here too. LOL

Against Indiana the team was in complete control of the game and won by double digits. The reason we didn't score as much as usual in the last two games is that Indiana and Michigan each held the ball for 25-30 seconds each possession before taking a shot.

They have to pick it up. You can't turn it on and off in the Big Ten. Season ain't over yet.

They've done pretty well so far doing this. Look at who are poorest performances this year were against: Purdue, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, and Iowa. Iowa at that time was a good team but the rest of those are just not good basketball teams. When the team needs to play well they've answered the call every time this year and I see no reason why they won't continue to do so.

Dee Brown is so f***ing awesome..

Tonight just shows that we are the best team in the Nation.. Whenever we are down when its crunch time we turn it up and one of our big 3 takes over the game..

I love how when we get down I dont even have to sweat it at all, because I KNOW they are going to come storming back..

Its so awesome to watch this team play... love it

MOS, you don't sweat it at all during the game? While i have confidence in the Illini to pull it out, i find it hard that you don't get nervous at all. I was a wreck during parts of this game. That's what being a die-hard does to you.

I guess that's also what happens when you watch them lose to Purdue AT HOME in front of your own eyes. NOTHING is ever guaranteed. And you don't KNOW anything is a sure thing. Ever.

I was at the game last night, and I was scared s***less. I was getting really worried after that Dee lost control of the ball on the fast break. I thought that just summed up the whole problem with the night, but I was wrong. Dee was the one who single handedly brought us back in the game.

You prolly didn't hear it, but Steve Lavin said it best on the broadcast, something along the lines of, "As a coach, you don't mind a turnover like that, because it means you are being aggressive." And at that moment, I slicked my hair back and felt a true and genuine love for another man. :puke :P

Well these last two games should have taught the Big 10 and the rest of the NCAA how to beat Illinois. IU and Michigan obvious don't have anywhere near the talent to play UI but they both stuck around for way longer than anyone expected.

Use up your shotclock on offense.

It is obvious that if the opposing teams use shotclock and make the Illini work on the defensive end of the floor, they don't seem as sharp on the offensive end. A Princeton style game would be the perfect match up for them. I'll be curious to see the rest of the Big 10 schedule, and then the Big Dance, and see how teams use these last two games to match up with Illinois.

thats exactly right. Indiana/Mich slowed down the game, that's exactly the opposite of what illinois is trying to do. We're a run and gun team, everyone knows that, when we're at our best is when we get in a rythm w/ our outside shooting. That rythm starts w/ fast breaks and fast passing. If michigan didn't get careless w/ those passes that dee intercepted, i don't know if we would have won.

When you aren't as good as your opponent, you should always try to shorten the game. It's been a good strategy the past two games. If you can get the lead or stay close, teams should keep that strategy.

Shortening the game gives you the better chance for the upset and allows your starters to play even more minutes.
