Soxfest
The White Sox signed a free agent pitcher -- 28-year-old left-hander Kevin Walker -- out of the San Francisco Giants organization. Walker (6-4, 190) played most of last season with Triple-A Fresno. He was 1-3 there with a 4.26 earned run average and one save in 48 appearances (one start). He also went 0-0 with a 16.20 ERA in five relief appearances with the Giants. Wow KW with a great FA signing just in time for Thanksgiving :rolly

Soxfest
This is obviously just a AAA move. Don't be so sure, I think this is KW reaching cheap and usual at FA time.
Rooftop Shots
This is obviously just a AAA move. Let's hope so. I think we had just about enough of "POTENTIAL"wannabs's for a 5th starter. Too many times we haggle with these "So-Called" great looking prospects with good AAA stats, and then take a dive when given a chance. KW keeps saying that he wants pitching, then he well better get us a proven "WEll-Established" starter. I think we're all rather tired of the usual [/size][/i]"MAYBE this guy will turn out to be something" routine! "YAWN!!!!!!!" Wake me when something significant happens!!! Wong & Owens
I believe he was picked up to use as compensation for this year's Roberto Alomar acquisition.
Molto
every offseason when the Sox make a move like this, as do most teams, it's treated by a few idiots as the one and only move they will make and a bad at one at that. some of you guys act like the Sox signed Walker and held a press conference and everything deaming it the best signing they've had and the only one they will do... unf***ing real. some of you need to use common sense. Winning Ugly
Walker was known as a Scott Linebrink type when he was with the Padres and they were horrible. They just had no more use for him, as you can see by their pen they have now. He's a good, cheap pickup, trust me.

Maybe it's not so much a comon sense issue. I think we all know (or at least hope) that we'll make some off season moves. I still think that it's still in the back of everyone's mind of what not only happened last off season, when KW said he wanted pitching, and nothing happened during that time, but also the fact that it carried over into the whole season with the 5th starter issue.. If KW obtained a # 5 starter when the off season was around, instead of playing around all year with "Wannabe's" we would have had a much better chance to do something. I think the main focus as of now is ghosts of red-flags popping up because of last year. I think we'll be OK, it's just that after all of last years off season promises, and nothing happening, Sox fans are more than itchy for some big moves. When little squirty ones like this happen, red flags are bound to pop up in the fans minds.
hi8is
in reality what happened was, KW got tired of bidding for these "old over priced good players" and decided to pull a rabbit out of a hat with this guy in order to out bid other clubs right out of the gates, KW offered this guy a 4 year 55 million dollar contract. thank the lord he signed. Molto
Or.. it could be some of us have a sense of humor and some of us don't. while you make a good point about having a sense of humor ... I do need one sometimes when I'm on these boards, the whole, sarcastic "WOW, WORLD SERIES HERE WE COME" jokes are overdone and rather old. the Sox signed a minor-league left-handed pitcher ... nothing worth getting excited, upset, or sarcastic about. I feel the same way, but the alternatives are even worse... WSI is even more cynical, and often lacks any substance, and Chisox.com is ..well... the MLB board. and if you aren't intelligent enough to drag yourself away from there, well, you deserve what you get. Guest JimH
This same conversation took place offline at lunch today too. I mentioned that, while it's true White Sox fans have a lot to b**** about, they sure do their share of b****ing. I got the humor in all of the posts, it was no big deal, but I agree with Mario that the "where do I get my World Series tickets" line is way past its prime. Personally, I like when they take flyers on guys like this. Just as long as it's not the only moves they make.
