Dick Allen
If Wright's healthy, he's a great pick up. The problem is he is rarely healthy. He throws hard. He started the 7th game of the 1997 World Series I believe, and I think he was a rookie. He was a stud prospect who is back off the garbage heap. 3 years sounds like a bit much, but probably no more than they were willing to give Vizquel which may may the Sox a player for one of the top SS. Also, he may be a replacement for Garland if Jon goes to Arizona for the Big Unit.
santo=dorf
Santo was this just on espnnews?? Right after I saw you posted this I ran downstairs to see and they were talking about Willingham. Yeah, Peter was on RIGHT (or should I say Wright? ) before that. Maybe he'll be on SC. He also thinks that Pedro WILL end up with the Mets because Pedro would like to take advantage of the NL, and the fourth option year is what will keep the Red Sox from signing him. qwerty
Do you think it's a possibility that Mazzone taught him how to pitch and now he'll take that with him? Like I said I don't know a ton about Wright but from what I know Wright used to just be a fireballer and last year he learned how to actually pitch. If he was there for two or three years then i would say that he should be fine. But last year was basically the only year of his career he ever had nearly that type of success. Four era is the best i can see him having here and i am being generous i think.

I take my chances with Garland over Wright

Having a 4 era in our park in the al would be excellent for any pitcher.

3E8
atlanta certainly has a great record for evaluating talent. why would they let him go? Free agency, no choice. Wright pitching against the Sox this year was one of the most dominating pitching performances I saw at the Cell.

No money, they wanted to try and muster up enough money for drew, but that looks unlikely too.

danman31
I was on this guy's bandwagon at the start of last year. He was healthy with an excellent pitching coach. Hopefully he can stay healthy and still be as sharp as last season. He looks to be better than anything else we can get. Wright pitching against the Sox this year was one of the most dominating pitching performances I saw at the Cell. When healthy he has been a great pitcher. He could blow out again. His career looks a lot like Jason Bere's. Starts off great, gets hurt, is horrible, has a good season, gets a decent payday. Bere's career countinued with gets hurt again, and is done. Winning Ugly
Free agent Jaret Wright and the White Sox may be close to a three-year deal, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports. White Sox GM Ken Williams isn't afraid to roll the dice. Wright doesn't figure to be quite so effective away from Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone, but he could at least be a solid third starter for the next few years.
