Guys........ I just went on the braves message board and they say that Gammons said it would be 5-6 million a year. That's a pretty large amount of cash. I like Wright but that seems to be an excessive amount of money but it seems like the price of all pitchers has been driven up.

As a mod all I can do is edit and offensive post, or close a problem thread...

Neither is neccessary here...

They are direct personal comment towards me and sould be suppended much like I was for doing the same thing in the Nick Johnson thread..

TO bad mine were all the truth and theirs are made up Lies.

Everyone's ERA inflates at the Cell, including opposing pitchers.

Usually everyone gets a little worse than they are away from home but I would be interesed in seeing opposing pitchers ERA at the cell. You also have to consider the fact that we are a lot better at home which will affect their ERA's also. Where can you find those types of stats?

Back to the main topic I would rather take a look at Odalis since I think he is a lefty. I believe he will be better in the long run than Wright. Wright is just an incident waiting to happen.

you're a troll. Plain and simple... You stir the pot just to watch it turn.

Don't come complaining to me about "personal attacks" when the only thing I have seen is comments about your poor spelling and grammar. Which hardly qualify.

My thoughts...

Another question mark in the rotation...kinda spookes me. I was hoping this would be the off-season these types of signing cease.

This reeks of White Sox doesn't it? I'm not going to go on a rant like some posters here about the Sox incapicity to spend money, but, this has "typical Sox signing" written all over it.

On the plus side of things, it looks like the fifth starter question could be answered, leaving Kenny some time to address other needs. Let's hope this is the WRIGHT ( :stick ) move.

I wonder if Kenny is as close to getting this one done as he was Omar.

If that's true, and the Sox really are pushing the payroll to 75m that would still give them about 7m to spend if they don't move Konerko or Lee... I guess with the price of pitching going up this is a good move in my opinion if the numbers are really 5-6m

If Wright has another year or two of what he did last year, $5-6 mil would be a frickin' bargain. Instead of condemning him before throwing a pitch, let's see what he can do. He's still young and has shown success in the past.

TheDybber, No thanks.. this his first year of an ERA under 4, pitching in a pitchers park..

Use the 5-6 mil on someone else..Hell I rather have O Perez here.. than this guy. Just a Bad move to blow up in our face IMO..

I see a mike Hampton type player in COL in Wright at the cell.

Guys, at the risk of being labeled a complainer...

This chump has got to go. This is a Sox message board, not a place to stir up trouble. Talk baseball or get the f*** out; its just like, get a life. This is yet ANOTHER ruined thread, when this should be some awesome off-season rumor chatter.

don't mean to be a prick, but can someone who is not stuck at work summarize the source of the Wright discussion... I know it's Gammons, but was it in print or on TV?

Brian Kenny and Peter Gammons were talking about the free agents market for pitchers . They talked about how s***ty the contract was for Benson, and the huge deal Benitez got. Peter also talked about Pedro, and some how Wright's name got mention, and Peter talked about how he would probably get a three year deal, and that the Mariners were after him. He then mentioned how he has just heard that the White Sox are after him and they are close to a deal. The graphic under Peter than changed to "Wright near deal with White Sox." I want to say Peter said he expects Wright to get $6 million a year, but that was before he mention the Sox being interested him.

Again, he hasn't even thrown one pitch in Comiskey as a White Sox (I still refuse to call it the cell). And a 4 ERA in Comiskey isn't that bad. No one on the board can see in the future...so let's just wait and see what he can do. He was the cream of the crop for the Indians in '97 and for the Braves last year. That's not too shabby.

Wright would be a better signing, IMO, than Russ Ortiz, Brad Radke, Matt Clement. The only reason I would want Perez or Milton is because they are lefties.

I wouldn't even think about Milton or Ortiz, they suck. I think I'd take Wright over Clement, I'd definitely take Radke over Wright and Perez and Wright are pretty close imo.
