greasywheels121
I would like Illinois to have Gerry DiNardo, because I don't want him.
danman31
If I were an Illinois fan I would want Butch Davis. I was thinking ND could have timed the firing considering they noticed Davis was available. This is doubtful. However, I think ND will get Davis if he wants to coach in college next year. CanOfCorn
It's a sad state of affairs when no one even mentions Illinois for the top coaches. I pray to all that is holy that we don't hire Mike Leach. He wins because he has a fluke system that no one gears up for. It works because he can recruit out of texas which has talent enough to fill the rosters for most of the colleges in and around Texas. If it's going to be an assistant, I would like Chuck Long. If it's going to be an NFL assistant, Tim Brewster. If it's going to be a mid major coach, Dan Hawkins. If it's going to be a college coach, Ty Willingham. Woo, this fence hurts my butt. I agree on leach... To win in the big ten you have to be a sound tackling team... TT consistently gets pwned when they face anyone with a willingness to play a physical football game... Tiller had a simillar system back at Wyoming, and adapted well because he embraced the defensive side of the game.
AddisonStSox
I want Bill Parcells. But, I anticipate our new coach to be Texas Tech's Mike Leach. Edit: AND yes, the Parcells comment was indeed sarcasim.

maggsmaggs
Tim Brewster, TE's coach of San Diego. Known as a great recruiter and you all have seen how Antonio Gates has played.

Palehosefan
I disagree about Leach and facing tough teams. KState and Oklahoma State are about as tough as it gets and he beat both of them this year. If Leach's system is a fluke, then you have to consider Utah, Boise State's, and Marshall's system's flukes also. Leach's offenses have been dominating for over 3 years now, you would think if it was a fluke, other teams would get sick of losing to him. People think TT's system isn't RB friendly like the other offensive masterminds, but its completely untrue. Taurean Henderson has 805 yards and 14 td's this year. Teams with superior talent like OU and UT give TT alot of trouble, but Leach has been recruiting very well the past few years and has a stud redshirting as a junior to take over the QB duties next year, and finally lots of good defensive recruits in place to improve the D. Things are looking up for TT and Leach, I don't see why Leach would leave TT for Illinois unless Illinois offered alot more money.

CanOfCorn
If Zook is offered the job, would he skip the Peach Bowl to talk to Illini recruits? Or would the name be enough to keep recruits? Let's hope Rashard Mendenhall doesn't pull his commitment.

Let's hope Rashard Mendenhall doesn't pull his commitment. Rashard is coming here. End of story. I spoke with the Niles West Wolfpacker the other day. As for the Peach Bowl, it would be up to Zook rather or not he would participate. They anticpate his decision to be made by Wednesday. WSFAN35
I'm sorry, but if Ron Zook can't win games with the talent he had in Florida, there's no way he's going to create a successful program at Illinois.

He did win games in Florida. Check his record. It's not Spurrier, but the guy is a recruiting machine and he knows how to coach the game. Maybe he'll end up here, who knows. Anybody is an upgrade from Turner.
Palehosefan
The talent at Florida when Zook arrived wasn't up to par for the normal at Florida. He recruited top 5 classes and brought in alot of talent, unfortunately for him it was young talent, with their best two players being sophomores last year. Whoever inherits the program this year will have a goldmine, if thats Meyer, look out.
