Chisoxfn
Very cool stuff. Hopefully the three of them can continue to push each other. Hopefully they are having a blast getting ready for spring training and I'm sure BMac in particular will get some appearances with the big time during camp. Palehosefan
Is there any thoughts of moving Tracey to the pen with his power arm? He could get here faster that way in my opinion.
Chisoxfn
I sure hope they don't. I still say Tracey has the best arm in the Sox system and one of the best in baseball, especially in regards to his ability to throw tons of pitches and still be able to throw the next day (not that the Sox are going to do that). As promising as he is, I wouldn't move him to the pen unless things didn't work out in the rotation or their wasn't a spot for him once that time comes. Tracey still has another year though and this will be a huge year cause if he gets it done in Bham and maybe even sees Charlotte this season he's gonna be right their two and all of a sudden the Sox will have two of the very best in baseball in Bmac/Tracey, imo. But I think highly of Tracey as a prospect as I think everyone has known for a while. Just like I think Chris Young is going to be a STUD. Now if Honel can figure things out, that be even more awesome. Plus I like the sleepers down in Kanny last year, mainly Haig and Rodriguez. Both of them pitched well considering they were on their way back from injury. Plus I like the looks of Orionny Lopez in terms of a reliever. Not an overpowering fastball, but he has a good looking hook that he throws for strikes.
Palehosefan
Thanks for the response, I know it has nothing to do with this but have you seen or heard anything on Fernando Hernandez yet? I would love to know what kind of stuff he has.

That and the young slugger Phil Rogers mentioned from the Dominican League that the Sox think very highly of. As far as converting someone to closer though, I'd love to see Danny Wright moved to the pen once he's 100%. I've long liked Wrights stuff and think if he can get healthy he could make very productive reliever.

You're description of Tracy being able to bounce back and pitch the next day and the following from that article ..... Tracey, whose fastball tops out at 97-to-98 mph, posted a 9-8 record for Class A Winston-Salem but turned in a sterling 2.78 ERA, which led the entire organization. He fanned 130 over 140 1/3 innings, while giving up a mere 108 hits and just five home runs. Control seems to be something that Tracey needs to harness, walking 69 in 2004 and 87 in his previous 200 career innings. ..... sounds like he has "closer" written all over him. If Tracey, BMac or Honel pan out enough to help this year, and Jose Contreras struggles, Jose would go to the bullpen. Many see him in the closers role. I'd much rather see the sox keep the young kids as SP's. I know Cotts and Adkins were moved but they didn't have solid 3rd pitches

danman31
Tracey can't hit 98 can he? That sounds ridiculous. I remember reading 94-95 at a couple other sites.
Punch and Judy Garland
If Danny Wright can get healthy, he might be able to follow the model of Ryan Dempster. Another guy with great stuff who was inconsistent and got hurt.

Another guy with great stuff who was inconsistent and got hurt. Couldn't agree more. He's an xfactor prospect that could maybe just maybe help the Sox out down the stretch if he gets healthy. I still dont' know how much, if at all, he'll pitch this year.

There has been a grassroots campaign to get Danny a try out as the closer for at least a couple of years now.

I'm glad to see the Sox actually following the lead of some teams like the Dodgers and signing more international prospects from regions like the Dominican Republic. Hopefully it'll help us in the long - run.
