Ozzie wants ground ball pitchers.

He says they havent specifically talked about moving the fences back but it might be in their mind.

He also wants everyday players, better defense.

Ozzie is rambling now, he says the winter meetings are like a high school reunion. Says he and KW and Reisndorf are talking all the time.

He talked personally to Vizquel and also spoke to the Pirates re: Kendall.

I think he sounded pretty frustrated, did you get that take too?

Cub crap.

Bruce Levine quick to expand on the Cub stuff, he has not expanded on the Sox stuff one bit.

As for Matt Clement, he mentioned Cleveland and Philly, didn't mention any others.

HOLY SMOKES ...

A White Sox question!

Jaret Wright, they're interested.

Talk today the White Sox and REd Sox getting into the Reteria pool. 4 years, $35 to $40 million.

Red Sox have soured on Cabrera but teams are scared away from his price.

I like this caller, he is a Sox fan and won't be given the bums rush.

Levine says probably not on Urbina. Levine thinks the Sox want power arms, i.e. strikeout pitchers.

Edit: Hilarious! Going into the break they're playing Jimi Hendrix, pass the doobie man.

Wow I leave for like an hour, come back right in time for the good caller, lol.

Seems interesting. Was that what the Sox are going to offer Renteria? As much as I think thats a lot of money for Edgar, he is good defensively and can fit into the 2 hole and be very productive.

Him, Wright and a reliever would be quite nice. If payroll is at 75 mill they could make two of the moves and find a way to shift some payroll to add a reliever.

Renteria makes sense. Ozzie said when they left Vegas they were sure they would get Visquel and when he went to Frisco everything fell apart. Renteria could bring many of the same things they were looking for and put them back on plan.

If Edgar produces like he did two years ago or somewhere near his 3 year splits I wouldn't have much complaint. Hits for average, plays plus defense, and has decent speed.

However this year he wasn't all that grand, at least not 9 mill grand. Two years ago, .330/.394 with 100 RBI is pretty freaking good.

I still say it could be a little smarter to look at Nomar. I wonder if the Sox are actually looking at him cause you could get him shorter term.

Renteria is one of KW's grinders. EVerytime I'd watch the highlights on ESPN, he's coming up with a clutch hit. Even if he gives us the same kind of season he gave the Cards last year, I think we'd be really satisfied.

I kind of wonder if the Yanks would be interested in PK since all this BS with Giambi. Maybe a PK for Vazquez and cash thing can be worked out.

When I heard the Yankees had acquired Randy Johnson, I immediately jumped onto the fact that considering how poor of a team Arizona is, that Vazquez could be dealt.

Lets be honest, Mel Stottlemyre absolutely ruins pitchers. He has ruined Ted Lilly, Jeff Weaver, and now Javier Vazquez, not to mention Jose Contreras. The guy is without a doubt one of the worst pitching coaches in the league, and I am begging for the day that either the White Sox or the Red Sox for that matter pick up Javier Vazquez.
