Chisoxfn
Renteria is one of KW's grinders. EVerytime I'd watch the highlights on ESPN, he's coming up with a clutch hit. Even if he gives us the same kind of season he gave the Cards last year, I think we'd be really satisfied. He made just 11 errors this past season which is pretty impressive. But I wouldn't pay 9 mill for a .327 OBP and a .728 OPS. The .284 average is adequate but its just not that amazing. In my opinion Nomar (1 or 2 yr 7 mill per) >>>>> Renteria (4yr 36) I would assume this move would mean the Sox move Konerko or Lee. After that I'd like to see them get a left handed bat and a reliever for one of them and then sign a RF as well. I think that would really complete this team. Hell, what about the Sox sign Wright, sign Renteria or Nomar. Then deal Konerko to the Giants for Pyrzinski and a bullpen arm (one of their younger pitchers - Foppert, Williams, etc...maybe the Giants consider it). Sox now have filled catcher and shortstop, got a young pitcher, and have a little money left over to add a guy like Jermaine Dye or whomever. Then swap the young pitcher you got from the Giants for a reliever or something along those lines. Aaron Rowand Renteria/Nomar Carlos Lee Frank Thomas AJ Pyrzinski Jermaine Dye Ross Gload Joe Crede Juan Uribe/Willie Harris Rotation: Garcia Buehrle Wright Garland Contreras

redandwhite
He would be so very bad here for too much money. Pass. Lets be honest, Randy Johnson will either be a Yankee next year or he'll be back with the Diamondbacks. With that being said, Javier Vazquez will definitly be apart of any Randy Johnson trade. The Diamondbacks could easily turn him around and deal him in fear that Vazquez will hit that long term trade clause in his contract based on poor team performance. Anyone not named Mel Stottlemyre coaching and critiquing this kid will have him not only resembling his Expo days, but probably even being better. EvilJester99
IIRC at the start of the season Vazquez was dominate....then for some reason tailed off major. I don't know if its an injury or pressures of NY. I think he could be dominate here if he is healthy. JMO though.
Wise Master Buehrle
Jason, I'd stay away from Pierzynski. He's a huge Twins fan. I remember the reports earlier in the year where players said he was watching Twins games whenever he could... there's no way I want him in my lineup against the Twins. EvilJester99
With his contract... the Sox would have to get the Yankmees to cover a lot of it. I wouldn't take him at his current rate straight up.

He would probally give up more than 40 homeruns in a season here. I like guys with really low home run numbers and he is not really that. He would be lucky to have a five era with the white sox. Chisoxfn
If the Yanks paid like 16 mill of his contract I'd definately make that swap. Without money involved though I think its took risky. I'd do a Konerko and Contreras for Vazquez swap though (but we know I don't like Contreras, lol).

Chisoxfn
I should add, I'm glad Ozzie said he wants another reliever cause this team drastically needs one. Also very nice to know that he realizes the Sox should get a ground ball pitcher. Intrigued that they may push the fences back out. If they do that then I'd think they would make a heavy push for pitching. Gotta play to your teams advantages.
santo=dorf
Uhhh... exactly why I don't want him on this team. Instead of going over the batters with his pitcher the prick would be too busy whacking off to I,Max while Torri Hunter is being interviewed by Max Kellerman. :fyou :fyou :fyou A.J
Chisoxfn
Personally I never have cared for the he played with hte Cubs or he played with the twins argument. He isn't going to be on the Sox and play and root for another team. Sure he may follow his buddies, but I could give a hoot about that. I long have said I wish the Sox were more like the Twins in the comrodory regard. I remember how much fun the 2000 Sox had, since then it seems few and far between. Although last year was better. I know one thing Pyrz is a pretty solid catcher and the Giants would probably move him cheap. The Sox could probably get him without giving up Konerko or Lee, I just think financially those guys would have to go.
redandwhite
Uhhh... exactly why I don't want him on this team. Well obviously, but your holding it against him that he followed what the Twins were doing. Thats like Frank Thomas not giving a hoot what the White Sox were doing after being in Chicago for an eternity.

I think the Sox are deep enough with minor league relivers, that somebody is going to step up... I see one of Cotts/Adkins having a great year, but the other will probably languish. Munoz, Bajenaru(I think he needs some more AAA time), Smith, Fields -- One of these guys is gonna force the organizations hand, and make the roster out of camp. EvilJester99
Isn't that the same s*** they use to say about Guardado as well?? People went so far to say he would pitch badly against the Twins to help them. Obviously that asenine and Guardado himself protests that but then again what else would he say really? With AJ slated to make slightly over five million in arbitration, the Giants seem to be very willing to hand the job over to Torrealba, and give Pierzynski away. Munoz, Bajenaru(I think he needs some more AAA time), Smith, Fields -- One of these guys is gonna force the organizations hand, and make the roster out of camp. This is where I will stray from my typical opinion on the radar gun, but I wnat the Sox to bring in a power pitcher. A guy they can call out of the pen that can strike out guys with runners in scoring position. I just don't think that of any of the Sox minor league relievers at this point. I like Baj the best of them simply because he seems to have some nice downward plane. However, Majewski was the one guy I liked quite a bit as a reliever in this organization next to Baj. Fields could be good, but still a bit away and I don't think much of Munoz from what I've seen of him. I could be way wrong though. I've seen him snap a few sick curves but he seems to be going away with it and throwing his slider more for some reason. I heard hints that the org wants him to work more on that, but don't know how legit it is. I have no problem with one or two of them in the back of the pen. I have a problem with Politte being the 3rd best reliever on this club. That scares me. As a 4th reliever fine. I do like Cotts quite a bit though. Punch and Judy Garland
I don't want AJ at all. This has less to do with his Twins association and more to do with teammates hate him. I'll pass. I would take on Javy Vazquez were the Yanks to pay part of the salary. I don't always believe in g/f to be honest so that ratio doesn't bother me that much. I have a hard time passing judgment on a guy's numbers who's mechanics are so out of whack. To weigh in on Edgar, 4/40 is a little steep but it's not the WORST contract you've ever heard of. He's a [retty lcutch player that will probably be a hall-of-famer when it's all over (he'll have a high hit total if he plays undtil he's 38-40). He would fill a major hole and could even hit leadoff when we face lefties. I am more inclined to be on board for Wright and Edgar as long as we don't trade away a lot of thump to get thsoe guys. I'm still of the mind that we can try to add guys without subtraction if we do it smart.
