whitesox91403
I know that Robbie is old and been injury prone. But, KW was going to take a chance on Vizquel, who is 38 yrs old himself. Considering everything KW has given up for Alomar the past 2 years, would it be so bad to bring him back cheaply and see if he can win the 2B job? I, for one, would take a chance with him, if the price was right just to try to save face considering KW traded for him.................TWICE. Only reason i would want him is to platoon with willie and bat against lefties. But he has forgotten how to hit lefties.

beck72
Only if Harris was traded. Which is very possible if the sox do get Renteria
YASNY
I'd rather have a youngster like Valdez than an aging shell of what used to be Robbie Alomar.
Hatchetman
alomar could be decent as a utility infielder but i doubt he would "lower" himself to such status.

That's pretty much my opinion of Roberto right now too. But if we sign Renteria, we won't need another IF as Uribe will play the super utility role that he did last year, while starting mostly at 2B. AnthraxFan93
NO.. WE have to wait till mid-season when we are nearly out of it, Then KW will trade for him again. Its the only smart thing to do in KW mind.

Its the only smart thing to do in KW mind. Yeah, because that 2003 was "nearly out of it" when we traded for Robbie. I'll admit the second trade for Roberto was stupid, but Uribe batted .140 for July, and Harris was in a slump too. KW gave up nothing for Roberto and a TON of cash the first time around. AnthraxFan93
I was refering to 2004, not 03.. 03 at the time I was happy we traded for him, and believed the hype that he would be able to come back to being the old Roberto.
munchman33
Only if Harris was traded. Which is very possible if the sox do get Renteria No way does Willie get traded. He can play the infield and the outfield, and is an adequate replacement for 2B and CF in case of injury.

I like Valdez too, but if Robbie could be had at a resonable price and improves from last year when he had a supposed back ailment that limited him with The Sox, then I think it's a good risk to take. I think my main thing with him is that Kenny has traded for him twice and I owuld like to see if he can do anything for us whatsoever over a FULL season. Punch and Judy Garland
You won't find a guy who likes Robbie more than me. He's a first-ballot HOF'er in my opinion. He belongs on that short list with a guy like Joe Morgan and a mild cut above Sandberg and Maz. All of that said, it appears over. I think he still can hit a little bit but his range is gone. I want to see him get 3000 hits but it just cannot happen in chicago. Robbie is not a bad guy but I don't think it'd be a good fit having him play once a week. A lot of guys can't make that adjustment. It's time for him to move on and see if he can land a gig somewhere else (St. Louis?)

elrockinMT
My personal feeling on the issue of Roberto Alomar, and Carl Everett too for that matter, is the moves to trade for them again was a mistake and we over paid in prospects for two duds in 2004. I hope we don't make that mistake again. I think Willie Harris and Juan Uribe did just fine and if Willie is our 2B and Uribe at SS we will be ok. Willie had some real good moments last season. wilburaga
I don't think we've forked over the PTBNL to the Diamondbacks for Robbie's limited 2004 service to the Sox. SHHHHHHH. W

No, where do you come up with this stuff? I am sure that they would take rauch who had very little value at the time for your beloved podsednik. He is not a better player than everett when everett is healthy. Unless having a .316 obp and seven stolen bases qualifies as being greatness.
