LosMediasBlancas
There is no way Borch is on steriods. He would of been tested and found out by now. ...and if he was what a waste of perfectly good steroids :headshake Most roid testing is a joke, there are always 'masking agents' that will make the results inconclusive. Athletes are always 2 steps ahead of the game, the Balco story is a perfect example.

And yet around 7% of ML baseball players failed drug tests last year, even without being tested for Balco products or masking agents. Does that tell you how many players are juiced up? YASNY
Crazy Carl and Milton Bradley could be on that list with their erratic behaviors. Other than the hatchet job done on him by the Red Sox (see Nomar for an example) how has Carl been erratic? Seems like he's been pretty solid to me. Seems like he's been pretty solid to me. Yeah I get sick of hearing about Carl too. KW check with Showalter and some of his teammates in Texas, and they talked abot how great of a teammate he is. He was also a good teammate with the Sox in 2003 which influenced them to bring him back for 2004. BUT, he did lose custody of his kids for abuse because he thought he was just following the bible by not giving them dinner when they misbehaved. I'm not sure that's the exact story, but it's something along th lineslike that.

Does that tell you how many players are juiced up? I'm with you, but of course none of those players are currently with the White Sox, right? Riiiiiiight. From what I've been told from people who have use roids, you have to be pretty careless to test positive for roids.

Even if you believe the 7% number show every single person that is juiced (and Oswald was the only shooter too) that means just over one person per team is juiced up. If you go way conservatively towards Caminiti and Canseco's estimates, and say 20% are juiced (still half of Caminiti and Canseco estimated) that means about 4-5 players are cheating. That means 4 or 5 guys we talk about on a daily basis are on illegal preformance enhancing substances, and that is being pretty conservative IMO. Texsox
Before it was against the rules, I imagine there were a ton of players. The only person that would really make me sad to find out about is Frank. I've always considered him the best non-juiced power hitter and the best batter in all of baseball for most of his career. If I found out he even juiced once, I may never watch baseball again. That would bring tears to my eyes. Anyone want to speculate on PK? Chisoxfn
Borchard isn't juicing. He's much too smart to do something like that. Only two players I would consider on the Sox and thats Jose Valentin and Billy Koch. But Jose really hasn't had much of a difference in size and I'd hope he'd be smarter then that. I guess Uribe and Davis are big guys too, but I'd like to think its all natural. I'd be pissed if I saw some Sox caught up in this, but on the most part I think they are a clean team. Even just trying to explain why I didn't think a Sox OFer would juice earlier this morning got me a little riled up. Frank Thomas has been and is still my favorite player on the White Sox and all of baseball. It'd crush me to find out he was on the juice. However, I'm not too worried. I have a couple baseball cards of Frank with pictures of him in little league, and he was a beast then. So unless Frank has been juicing since he was like 12, I think we're okay. I have no doubts about Sammy. Another one that has always made me wonder is Alou. He has some huge years, and tons of injury problems. First of all, he's built like mover, not a pro athlete. Furthermore, roids would mean stronger thigh muscles, which would result in speed. Why do you think so many track athletes use them? Pauly? Nope, not juicing, he's too damn slow.

But it could explain the joint and hip problems that he has had. The tendons and ligaments are the first things to go for people who roid up. LosMediasBlancas
Southside, from what I undertsnad, he's had that hip problem for a looooong time, it was just kept hush hush. Steff, that's certainly possible, but I just don't see evidence of it on the rest of his physique.

IMO.. something helped him strengthen and make the muscles in the area more tolerant.

Steff
He's gonna have to go the Bo Jackson route or he's gonna be miserable after he retires. Albert's doing fine and his condition is much further along than Paul's. It's activity in moderation. He still golfs several time a week.. obviously he doesn't run or work out as much as he used to. He'll never have surgery. But maybe Paul will.. guess it depends on how badly the hip fails him.

Gene Honda Civic
PK doesn't look all that different (physically) now from when his HS baseball card picture was taken. As I recall, Paulie was one of the players, along with frank, who wanted to skip the mandatory testing in order to recieve a false positive, and help force further mandatory testing.
