AnthraxFan93
Dave Roberts.. Gammons is reporting that Boston is looking to shop him, he would fit 2 of our needs, a Lead-off hitter and an OF, leaving Uribe and Harris at 2b and SS. We could trade for him, he was making under a million last year. My biggest concern is being 32 and with health problems last year is that going to be a problem from now on. AnthraxFan93
I have to see what boston is looking for. But, I think it would have to be a prospect. My Ideal situation.. Trade Roberts for Everett... Yeah, and then we can get trade Joe B for Rich Harden!!!

beck72
PK for Roberts and Millar. Word is Boston wants to get rid of one of Millar or Mientzkiwitz [sp?]. Pk's better defensively than Millar, and a better hitter than Dougie. Boston could still trade Dougie.
AnthraxFan93
If we are giving up Pk.. I would like to see if we can pull of Damon..Since they are in the hunt for beltran..Who would not like to have Damon roaming CF and leading off? If we all remember we hate this f***er as a person. He is on record as saying that in 03 we should have not been able to host the All-Star game because of those fans. I don't think he could live that down. Does anyone know how much longer Roberts has on his current contract? I just hoping for something next offseason..but will never happen. CanOfCorn
How about this for a cheap replacement. Todd Hollandsworth. I saw him play down here against the Astros and he had an excellent game. Plus, before the game we were watching batting practice and this left handed batter planted one over Tal's Hill, over the flag poles in straightaway center. Who was it? Todd Hollandsworth. This guy has gotten a bum rap since leaving the Dodgers. He had a pretty good year last year as a 4th outfielder and took Soso's place pretty well. Cubs are also dumping Ben Grieve. Might be an option as a 5th outfielder.
Chisoxfn
Holly would be a nice pickup as a backup type guy. He could even play, only problem is he gets injured way too much to be an everyday player. I've always been a Holly fan though. On a sidenote, KW will be tarred and feathered if he trades Konerko for Millar and Roberts. Remember what the BoSox gave up for Roberts and remember that Roberts is soley a pinch runner in their current system. They will move him for a solid bullpen arm, so screw a package centered around Konerko. Unless the Sox got Damon...NO DEAL. I do think Roberts would be a vet pick up though. Punch and Judy Garland
Not sure if this got mentioned, but Jurassic was a disaster in Boston. Nto as much staistically but the fans and media didn't get along with him. I wouldn't mind Roberts in CF but I don't feel Rowand is good enough offensicely to profile as a right-fielder, IMO. Every place i read, his problems in boston was blown out of proportion and was not nearly as bad as reported. He does not seem like a dick or a cancer to me. Since he has been on the sox he seems like a pretty good guy.
AnthraxFan93
The sox have Ross Gload. They don't need Doug. Can Gload handle playing everyday? IMO this is a 2nd to last straw, in getting roberts. They are not going to be asking to much for him IMO, so why not.. Unless you guys think that Joe B is the answer

Gene Honda Civic
So wait .679 OPS is an upgrade? That we should give up a player for? That's considered a cheap replacement? :puke
Punch and Judy Garland
Roberts cna run though, and he fits the grinder mode. I'm not saying he's the best guy out there to get, but I wouldn't be angry about it. As for Qwerty, I wasn't insinuating that Carl is a bad guy, but the perceptions in NY and Boston prevent them from gong after/reacquiring guys like Carl.
