Maybe you don't realize this, but cheap isn't always a bad thing.

If you can get a player like Cairo for under two million, I don't see the problem with it.  Would you be happier if we offered Cairo ten million per season, just so JR can say that he opened up the wallet?  Would that make you happy?

unfortunately, that would make him really mad because then they would be overpaying and would be considered stupid, not cheap.

there isn't really a way to make guys like that happy.

I doubt he will platoon with anyone, especially willie harris. From what i have heard he is looking for a starting job, somewhere, anywhere.

He wanted the same deal the Yankees gave to Womack. I don't know if he so much has to start, but if he's payed like a starter, he'll gladly platoon with harris.

1 year/1.25 million dollars? Rather steep, but it might ink him.

well, OG hates willie,

Very important issue in this whole equation.

I might not use the word hate, but it's fair to say "definitely not impressed".

Dave Wills comments on Willie Harris last nite were very telling.

I'd definitely take Cairo at that price.

In essence, you'd be paying right around (and I'm rounding up) two million for your leadoff hitter, that being Cairo vs. lefties and Harris vs. righties. I've said that the platoon should put up, at the very least a .270 AVG and a .370 OBP. While making a move like signing Cairo wouldn't make many headlines, he'd definitely be a solid pickup.

Good point. That combo also gives you some solid bench depth too. Cairo at 2B, SS and 3B. Wille at 2B and CF.
