Southside hitmen
Ken Rosenthal was on sporting news radio yesterday and reported that the Sox and Pitt are talking about Jon Garland and several high prospects including B Anderson& R Sweeney for Craig Wilson&Oliver Perez. Has this been reported in Chicago as well..

greasywheels121
Okay, Wilson and Perez definitely fill some needs. But how do people feel about that? Sweeney and Anderson?!
DBAHO
First of all welcome to SoxTalk, I'll edit the topic title so that people don't get the impression that a trade has actually happened. Secondly, I can't see the Pirates dealing Perez under any circumstances. And KW would be crazy to trade his 2 uber outfield prospects when he already traded Reed in the Garcia to Seattle deal. I've have mentioned Craig Wilson as a guy to possibly target if we do deal Konerko however though.
winninguglyin83
we gave up Reed. We can't trade our next best left-handed bat in Sweeney. I'm not sure Anderson is going to be a stud in the big leagues. But Sweeney definitely seems to have a larger upside. give them Anderson and Rogowski. Southside hitmen
I believe O Perez is a free agent after the 06 season so many the Pirates are thinking of rebuilding with 2 great prospects such as Anderson and Sweeney. Since they probably wont have the money to resign Perez
chisox2334
When minor league coach says were not going trade anderson I have tend to believe him. But if it happeeneds I will take back all of this.
YASNY
Why do we want another big slow RH power hitter? EDIT: The more I think about this trade, the less I like it. Perez is very impressive, but I think the price is too high. 2nd EDIT: This is from Perez' ESPN scouting report. and some scouts fear his violent delivery will lead to arm problems. Sox1422
Okay, Wilson and Perez definitely fill some needs. But how do people feel about that? Sweeney and Anderson?! I say Sweeney and Anderson are just prospects and Wilson and Perez are good solid young players that have played on the ML level with success. I like it. Perez is a stud. chisox2334
If happeends great. But nothing like that will happened. I can wish on a star for that. All I can say is I hope we do something by the weekend
maggsmaggs
Why not get the other O. Perez in Odalis, he posted similar numbers as Oliver did this year two years ago. He would come relatively cheap and we wouldn't have to trade our top two prospects.
gosox41
Okay, Wilson and Perez definitely fill some needs. But how do people feel about that? Sweeney and Anderson?! But don't forget the Sox have the mighty Joe Borchard waiting in the wings. That's supposed to be sarcastic, I just don't know how to do that here yet. southsider2k5
Rick Hahn said that B-Mac isn't going anywhere. I was just reading this thread and was thinking exactly that. This smells like trolling.
Butter Parque
I wouldn't mind the deal either. We get the best young pitcher in baseball with the best stuff in baseball as well as a power hitter who can play 1st for us. So what the we give those two up, how many of prospects work out for us anyway. Garland needs new scenery as well. The we could trade Konerko away for either some more pitching or some prospects. Kalapse
Craig Wilson's 2004 Stats: G AB R 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 155 561 97 35 5 29 82 50 169 2 2 .264 .354 .499 .853 He struck out 169 times, holy s***, I thought we were going in the other direction. Not adding more strikeouts to this line up. Edit: However Oliver Perez is an absolute stud 10.97 K/9, that's sick.
AngelasDaddy0427
As long as we get decent pitching in return for Garland then I'm all for it.

Chisoxfn
I think the Pirates would accept this deal, but I wouldn't want Wilson. Plus Perez has great stuff but he's not what you would call proven yet. If the Sox went out and made other moves though, then I could see this type of deal making sense. Punch and Judy Garland
This is a tough deal where you get a lot but give up a lot. We would still need a fifth starter, and we'd only have B-Mac as potential trade bait in July. This is a dangerous trade. BTW, I would argue Jake Peavy is better than Perez but that's just one man's opinion as it doesn't detract from how good Perez is.

Hell I would want them both if we could get them, but giving up all that Talent for 2 players who are OK.. No thanks I would rather trade Those players to San Deigo and see if we can get Peavy and Klesko, then it would be worth it. EDIT: Trade Pauly and Diaz to Pittsburgh.. Get Perez and Wilson Trade Garland, Anderson and Sweeney to San Deigo for Peavy and Klesko IMO, we be getting to sweet of deals, and will never happen.. But a man can dream the good dream, of aquiring players that help a team win...Wait KW is the GM.. never mind
Punch and Judy Garland
I know Sutcliffe does soem work in the front office there and said he wouldn't trade Jake Peavy for ANY player in baseball. They do want to get rid of Klesko quite badly. I think with them trying to contend that it's just not a fit. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of just uisng Schoensuck and then winnign the Ben Sheets sweepstakes in June
