Ladies and Gentlemen, We Have A Winner!!!!

It's ENTERTAINMENT. That's ALL it is, and if you're not entertained, then watch something that will entertain you. God knows there's enough junk to watch out there...

I'd love nothing more than for the Sox to win the whole f***in' thing, but if they don't ( which is every year  :D ...wait, I mean  ) I don't run around screaming and b****ing about it.

People who know me in "real life" ( as opposed to this superhero life I'm living here  ) know that when I play sports I have pretty huge expectations of myself, but ALL I expect from the White Sox is a fun day or night at the park. Seeing them win is more fun, of course, but I'm not going to let a professional sports team ruin my mood.

If that makes me "less of a fan", then so be it - I'm not really in any Best Fan Ever competition anyway.

awesome posts, the both of ya.

too many people put too much emotion into a sports team, and that should NEVER be the case. There are things far more important than it. This isn't to say you can't be a big fan, but the Sox, or any team you are a fan of, winning should just a bonus in your life, it should never be the one and only thing that matters.

I just hope on paper we have a better team next year than

this past year.

I have my concerns.

Big Frank according to the papers won't be ready for the

get-go. That's not good.

We all saw what we were like w/out Maggs and Frank.

while I think not having Thomas and Maggs was a big blow to the Sox, I don't think having them would've made that big of a difference in the final outcome. I say that because although they were their two best hitters, them being there wouldn't of fixed the big problem, which inconsistency.

Sure, the numbers would've looked better, the team would've had a couple more wins, but really, with or with Thomas/Ordonez, the offense changed game-to-game.

This isn't to say they would've had the same record and still would've collapsed in the end, but I just didn't see them pulling it off with such an inconsistent offense.

And that's what I mean.  Why so irrational when it comes to the Sox?

For God's sake its not like the Sox have a $30 million payroll like Devil Rays.

Its not like the Sox traded a World Series team like the Marlins.

Its not like the Sox never resign anyone like the Pirates.

Its not like the Sox are pocketing revenue sharing money like the Brewers.

Its not like the Sox lost 120 games like the Tigers two years ago.

Its not like the Sox are the Expos who have traded away some of the best players of our generation.

Its not like the Sox are $300 million in debt like the Diamondbacks

I could keep going, but you get the point.  Yes the Sox aren't the Yankees.  They don't have a metro area of 15 million people to draw fan to.  They are the 2nd team in a two team town.  The Sox do have middle of the road payroll and a middle of the road attendance. They aren't some joke, just because they didn't go out and spend a stupid amount of money on a pitcher who has been healthy for one year in the last 5.  They also aren't the Angels who have a rich owner who is willing to lose $20-30 million a year.  Eventually the Angels will end up in the same situation as the DBacks did.

Its not like you walk into McDonalds and expect a gormet meal, why do you look at the Sox and get angry that they don't spend outside of their means?

Devil Rays never won a world series

Marlins 2 WS wins both since the Sox last.

Pirates 5 WS wins, 4 after the Sox, none since 1979

Brewers None under Brewers name

Tigers 4 WS all after the Sox

Expos No world series wins

Diamondbacks 2001 WS Champs

Yankees 26 WS wins, all after the Sox

Angels 2002 WS win

Southsider is correct. Until baseball gets serious about fixing the sport, the haves will be perennial playoff teams and the half nots will dream. To be competitive, Chicago needs one team to leave and the city to support the others. I don't see either team leaving.
