jackie hayes
I'm a Dye fan, but this move worries me a bit. Last year, it's true, he really went on a tear early in the season, but he cooled off quite a bit. His overall numbers last year are really not that impressive. His obp was only so-so, and he struck out a lot (about once every 4 abs, k/bb about 2.5/1). He's a good fielder, I'll give you that. But overall, there could be some nontenders that might be better options. I hope at least the Sox really don't expect Dye to pick up for Magglio. At the plate, anyway, it would be good to mix in a lot of Carl Everett, for production and to help the both of them stay healthy.
YASNY
I remember, what was it, 2 years ago that Oakland "stole" Dye from KC. Everyone thought it was a great move by "The Genius GM". He's had a tough row to hoe since that broken leg. Hopefully, its been long enough that he's fully healthy again and has a full year under his belt now to get his skills back. He could be a steal, but I don't think he'll be a bust.
MurcieOne
He could be a steal, but I don't think he'll be a bust. Ding Ding Ding.... I couldnt agree more... at this price (10.15 gauranteed) I think this is very low risk high reward type acquisition...
AngelasDaddy0427
Well i'm sure KW and JR will insist on a physical. I have no doubt he's healthy.
LosMediasBlancas
Good signing. eliminated the possibility of playing Borchard. gives us time for Anderson or Sweeney to develop. keeps Carl Everett at DH (because I doubt Frank will be ready when the season begins). So, what happens to Borchard? Think he'll be packaged up for an arm??

AngelasDaddy0427
Sell the rights to the Bears. Can never have enough quarterbacks... He has no value as a baseball player though.
Wise Master Buehrle
Right now, we have a lineup of: 2B Harris CF Rowand LF Lee 1B Konerko DH EVerett RF Dye SS Uribe C Davis 3B Crede I still say we deal Kong do get Gloads lefty stick in there. While I wouldn't be against trading Konerko, I woudln't trade him just to find a spot for ROSS GLOAD to play in... even though he is a lefty.... Well, yes, me too. Trading Konerko would likely bring in a starter, or some relief help, and some prospects. We still have too many righties in our lineup, so getting a few goodies in return for Kong and still haveing Gload available, is, in my opinion, a very good thing. YASNY
Ross Gload will not be the starting firstbaseman for the White Sox.

Trade Pauly with Bochard (if we can) for a SP Then Sign Olreud to help Gload out at First.

greasywheels121
I heard that too. But "close" isn't "signed". Eh. I don't think we have to spend the money on another 1Bman. If we really need a lefty bat at 1B, I'd prefer Gload.
SnB
so this is a done deal right? me and greasy talked about this last night, i'll take dye any day over borchard. I'm a fan of this deal, bigtime.

YASNY
Just a thought. I haven't put any thought into it. I know JR said that they don't see Gload as any more than a part time player. Thinking Tino would be a solid LH bat and damn good glove. Sure, he's not going to win any MVP awards, but I wouldn't dismiss him so quickly. thomsonmi
I believe that Big Hurt will be our first baseman with relief being provided by Russ Gload and Jermaine Dye. I know it's not a great solution fielding wise but the White Sox have finally figured out the Hurt hits about 40 points better when he's playing first base. It also allows us to put the fielding disaster, Carl Everett, in as a lefty DH.

The Big Hurt has two season ending injuries happen in the past three years while playing first base. Let's just let Frank DH and I'll take whatever numbers he produces. EvilJester99
Also looking at his production last year. He had 23 HRs...I bet at the launching pad that is USCF he will hit over 30. If he can produce even close to that I think this will be a very solid deal for the Sox. I think it all hinges on if he can stay healthy. IMO
SoxFan562004
I've given KW a lot of s*** (most of it in fun, but some people don't like that), but at the money I like the signing. Especially since I just heard on the radio he's only 30... I thought he was older than that
CubKilla
The Sox getting Dye is no surprise to me.
