For the 90th time...

Finley will NOT BE LEAVING THE WEST COAST.

At the deadline last year, he refused to go to any time outside the west coast, so he could be close to his family.  His family lives in San Deigo and he has made it very clear that he wants to stay close to home.

This one ain't happening fellas.

That's not the point of this thread. It's not to say who you think we'll get. It's who you want us to get, at least that's the way I saw it.

No, you saw it correctly.

But to say Finely is just like saying Beltran or Pujols...It's that distant of a possibilty; that's my point.

Now, my guy was Kendall...didn't happen, so I'm on the Edgar train.

I'd love Renteria, especially if he can/will lead off and Varitek. Realistically I'd be happy with Palanco, Wilson Alvarez and maybe Jeff Nelson. Looking over the free agent list, I wonder if Rusty Greer has anything left. He used to whip up on us everytime we played Texas. I also haven't heard a thing about Jeff Kent. What kind of money is he looking for?

^_^

I'm a Finley man myself.  I wanted him at the deadline.  He's up there in age, but they guy still has a lot of game.  He looked fantastic with the Dodgers, plus he's a good ol' Saluki.

Name a team in baseball that couldn't use Steve Finley. I go to SIU so there is some pride with him there. However, I barely admit I go tehre after losing to Hawaii and Arkansas-Little Rock.

Since we're dreaming...

SP: Mark Mulder would change Chicago, and I'm all about Southside pride.

-- Second Option: Vazquez or Perez - enough said.

SS: Placido Polanco because he has some pop and his bat, and I could see him shoring up the middle infield with Uribe for the next couple years.

-- Second Option: Renteria at 2B, Uribe at SS -- not a bad runner up.

C: AJ Pierzynski while I hated him with the Twins, would add some fire and emotion to the Sox, and may have ripped off Hunter's head had he been knocked over like Burke last year (and I really like Burke).

-- Second Option: Charles Johnson -- Not quite the player he used to be, but I would imagine could be had relatively inexpensively, and I liked what I saw when he was here.
