Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?

Don't know if this has been posted anywhere but the Suntimes had this little piece in the paper today.

*******************************************************

DOUG PADILLA-- While one new outfielder just walked in the door, the White Sox could be preparing to say goodbye to another.

On the day the Sox announced that Jermaine Dye will take over in right field for Magglio Ordonez, who will depart via free agency, rumors were circulating that left fielder Carlos Lee might be traded as early as this weekend during the annual winter meetings.

********************************************

People know I've talked about trading Carlos before. With Dye on board, a Lee clone, getting a SP or a leadoff man would be a decent move. The question is which teams would have what the sox want, and would need Lee. The A's come to mind, with Hudson available. Sea. could use a big bat like Lee, but don't know who they have the sox could use. Maybe the Marlins [Luis Castillo everyone--though FLA would like Marte]

I guess we'll have to see how things pan out, and get some hints by who KW is seen talking to.

Wouldn't surprise me.

For KW to continue to fly under the radar, he's going to have to move salary cause, GOD FORBID, the White Sox actually add considerable (around $10 million) salary over the course of one offseason.

If Lee or Konerko are moved, it had better be for a proven, established SP. None of this Todd Ritchie "innings-eater" bulls***.

They added $12 million from '03 to '04

I meant over the course of the season '05..... not the life of the Hermanson and Dye contracts.

What? :huh She was saying that the payroll from was raised by $12 million dollars from the '03 season to the '04 season which was a direct response to this:

Yas, you must not have gotten the memo.

Didn't you know that if every internet post you make is whining about something, you're exempt from being accountable for what you say? :D

I don't know how I feel about a CLee trade. I remember watching him this year and got the feeling he was turning into a SamMe clone. I got the feeling he was more interested in padding his own stats than getting us back in the division race. Did anyone else get the impression that something changed for the worse for him this year? Like he wasn't as hungry to win?

From the 2004-2005 White Sox Soundtrack

You put your right foot in,

You put your right foot out,

You put your right foot in

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your left foot in,

You put your left foot out,

You put your left foot in,

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your right hand in,

You put your right hand out,

You put your right hand in

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your left hand in,

You put your left hand out,

You put your left hand in,

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your right shoulder in,

You put your right shoulder out,

You put your right shoulder in,

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your left shoulder in,

You put your left shoulder out,

You put your left shoulder in,

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your right hip in,

You put your right hip out,

You put your right hip in

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your left hip in,

You put your left hip out,

You put your left hip in,

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

You put your whole self in,

You put your whole self out,

You put your whole self in

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey

And you turn yourself around,

That's what it's all about.

Was this supposed to be in green?

Hey, it was a long season - and my mind seems a little addled lately. Maybe I'm getting mad cow from the bad italian beef at the Phillies game I went to a couple months ago. I thought it was Carlos, I was thinking of - but then again I got so angry at so many players this year, its hard to keep track.

Now you know why I post so infrequently in the on topic message boards :P

I saw Lee's performance like this .... When Magglio and Frank were healthy, he was trying to use all fields and get on base as often as possible. Hense, the 28 game hitting streak, with only 5 HR thru the first couple of months. After they went down, he started cranking it up because he thought the team needed him to supply more power.

No, I don't think Carlos was only concerned with his self interests. I think he was trying to be whatever the team depending on the circumstances.

Let's face it people, KW has said he is pretty much done in the FA market. Any additions will have to come via trade, which would mean losing offense, possibly Carlos, to get pitching or a SS.

It's the old plugging one hole and creating a new one.

Oh hell ... you don't believe that do you? Everyone knows KW is a world class liar. ........... or, he's just flying under the radar.

Lee is the one person currently in the organization who I believe could replace Maggs in the lineup. Dye needs to improve on Lee, and we are marginally ahead. We shouldn't ask Dye to be Maggs. Lee becomes Maggs and he has the talent IMO to do that. We're treading water but not sinking.
