What a joke. I'd of picked Bush over Leinart. Ask anyone in the pac 10 (coaches that is) and they'll tell ya the game plan was to stop Bush not Leinart.

Heard Boise States coach talkinga bout Bush and was saying more of the same.

It should of been White or Peterson.

I should add I'm not really knocking Leinart, I just think he wasn't deserving. I do think he's going to make a solid pro qb and is going to get drafted very high.

And Booty is going to be the starter next year, book it. He's supposed to be better then Palmer and Leinart.

I wrote this on November 24 of last year, anyone who remembers my blog can find it

One thing about the college game that has never made sense, however, is the Heisman voting. Southern Cal's Carson Palmer benefitted from tons of hype last year from the middle of the season to the end. He won the voting in all six regions except for the midwest, home of the second place finisher, Iowa QB Brad Banks. Palmer admittedly had a stellar season, going 11-2, including a win over Banks and the Hawkeyes in the Orange Bowl in his senior year. He threw for 3,942 yards, 33 TD's and 10 INT's for a QB Rating of 149.1 and took home the Heisman Memorial with ease.

Fast forward to this year and Palmer's replacement, sophomore Matt Leinart, has just as good of a case, but is getting no hype at all. He will almost surely not win the Heisman. Rather, Oklahoma QB Jason White looks to be the front-runner, along with N.C. St. QB Phillip Rivers and VA Tech RB Kevin Jones. In fact, Leinart isn't even in the top 5 of the latest ESPN writers poll, despite numbers that are as good or better than Palmer's. Leinart has a higher completion percentage (63.6% to 63.2%), 3 less TD's and 3 less INT's in about 160 fewer attempts. His QB rating is much higher (164.5 to 149.1) and he has been sacked 11 less times than Palmer was. Leinart has also gone 10-1 so far this year, with one more regular season game left against Oregon St. A win there will most likely propel USC into the National Championship game against White and the Sooners. Even if that happens, Leinart will not be invited to New York City as a finalist because of the bias that exists against underclassmen when it comes to Heisman voting. It a system much like affirmative action, and leads to winners like Eric Crouch and Danny Wuerffel.

The voters need to be a little more open-minded, or they will wind up picking another dud.
