DBAHO
Wasn't it something about him watching tv in the clubhouse..? Rooting for the Twins on tv or some bologna like that..? When Giants fans first heard of the club's new catcher, all the personality pieces were fairly superficial, that Pierzynski was the consumate talker at the plate, verbalizing with opposing ballplayers at will -- sometimes against their wills -- and always letting umpires know what was on his mind. In Spring Training, Pierzynski seemed less than happy, almost moody, got tired of hearing the same questions about his nature behind the plate and rarely seemed to mingle with his Giants teammates. Making matters worse, he was hitting only .188 on April 22, had trouble throwing potential base stealers out and worse -- much worse -- came grumblings from several San Francisco pitchers that Pierzynski was a "cancer" on the club and somehow lacked team spirit. .... several pitchers .... questioned Pierzynski's work ethic. The latest incident occurred before Wednesday's game, when two players confirmed Pierzynski ignored starting pitcher Brett Tomko's request to go over opposing hitters. Instead, the players said, Pierzynski resumed playing cards for another 20 minutes. "I've never in all my years seen a catcher who didn't watch video before games," one pitcher said. "He doesn't watch hitters -- other than the Twins games when they're on TV." Another disturbing story made its way through the clubhouse last week. According to two Giants players, the Padres' Phil Nevin said Pierzynski was criticizing Giants pitchers while Nevin was at the plate. JoshPR
For me, this guy is like Reggie Miller. You hate his guts when he plays against your team, but you'd love to call him your own. Couldn't agree more with that. Bring him on we need some grinders
