3E8
If Ginter could play SS or 2B, I would definitely make this trade. Why didn't Ginter play more games than he did last year? He had just under 400 at-bats. If you extrapolate his numbers based on the amount of at-bats Carlos had last year, Ginter would've had 29 HR's, 90 RBI's, and 35 2B's. Carlos had 31 HR's, 99 RBI's, and 37 2B's. Carlos also played in US Cellular Field. Ginter didn't. He strikes out much, much more than Carlos and doesn't hit for as good an average. But he still had a decent .333 OBP. If he could play SS or 2B while Podsednik took LF or CF, I think we would come out ahead here. We would complete our infield, finally have a lead-off man, and also save enough money to sign a FA starting pitcher.

I suppose being stuck behind Craig Counsell, Junior Spivey and Wes Helms, didn't allow Ginter to play everyday, although it looked like he was used extensively as an utility man. He'd probably have the same role here, playing a bit of second base (as he hit .325 off lefties), and some third base for Joe Crede.
AnthraxFan93
What do you do with Joe Crede? Florida takes on salary in that deal, they're having enough payroll problems as it is. And Delgado ain't gonna come for less than about $12 mil, so that ain't gonna happen. If we free up some payroll, we're goin to sign a starter. We could trade Lowell off for a SP or prospects, The only reason I included Lowell is FLA, was looking to move Cabera(sp) back to 3b and ML has the biggest Salary. They need a 1b and use Lee in the OF to replace Caberea(sp).
JoshPR
I wouldn't mind Vizcaino for the Bullpen
SkokieSox
What if the deal with Brewers went down as said, and we freed up enough money for Clement, who may be holding out for the chance to not have to move? I like Pod and Ginter, they're solid players. Ginter would either be an option at third or second, or at the very minimum create better depth for the infield. Pod gives us a speedy CF who I believe will fall in the middle of his spectacular season and not so good season(while stealing a s*** of bases still). Rowand is a very good CF IMO, but with the three starters in the OF (assuming this trade happened, Rowand moving to LF), we would have a very good OF from a defensive perspective at the very least, which is the direction we're trying to take. So with that, along with Clement, for essentially Lee, I'm game.
santo=dorf
DING! DING! DING! If we are getting Posednik and Ginter, the most we give up is Garland and a prospect who is not that highly touted. If we give up Carlos Lee, we better be getting Sheets and Pod. If we have to throw something else in, fine. Hell toss in Crede and sign Nakamura to get Sheets. Do the Brewers really want Russell Branyan as their starting third baseman? NO thats why thier starting 3b is Wes Helms

SkokieSox
Maybe Perez then? Ya, or Perez possibly. Maybe Clement was a little unrealistic with what he'll be commanding, but we can do something with the money saved. I think the trade would work to our advantage in the larger scheme of events unfolding throughout the rest of the offseason.
AddisonStSox
Thoughts... -Anthrax's trade idea with the Marlins is absurd. That's a total XBox trade. -I'm simply not sold on SPod enough to trade one of the most consistent White Sox over the past three years. -STOP WITH THE SHEETS TALK. Doug Melvin is madly in love with him. He is going to do anything he can to lock him down. Melvin will NEVER, EVER have a Brewers "Garage Sale" like the Bucs did a couple years ago. If anything, Sheets may be shipped at the deadline in a big blockbuster type deal. -All signs point towards Clement going to the halos. Shucks. santo=dorf
An undisclosed team jumped into the bidding for free agent Matt Clement yesterday. "A new team I hadn't thought of jumped in," agent Barry Axelrod said. "Not one that traditionally has had wherewithal, but might in this case." Milwaukee? The Angels, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Indians, Diamondbacks and maybe the Cardinals have offered Clement deals. Axelrod said it was "his fondest hope" Clement would sign by Wednesday. It looks like it's going to take at least $27 million over three years and $40 million over four years can't be ruled out. 4 years 40 million for MATT f***ING CLEMENT??? :headshake
Chisoxfn
This trade would be just about as bad as the other Lee rumor.
CanOfCorn
4 years 40 million for MATT f***ING CLEMENT??? :headshake I know, can you believe it? Sometimes the best moves are the ones not made. There are some people on this site that like to b**** about how JR and KW don't open up the purse strings. And while that is true in some cases... Benson, Guzman, Ortiz, Glaus, Castilla, Pavano were all overpayed. Clement, Beltran, Beltre, Drew and possibly Maggs will be overpayed. Dye, Hermanson were paid market price. KW isn't as dumb as some people like to say he is.

That is a freaking TERRIBLE deal...unless Vernon Wells is a part of it.
