whitesoxfan99
The more I think about it, the more I like this trade. We save money, get a legitimate base stealing threat (unlike one we have seen in YEARS), and a QUALITY reliever that was in the top 10 in holds last year in the NL. The guy had a 2.63 K/BB ratio last season, compared to 2.00 for Damaso. We still got plenty of pop in Konerko, Thomas, Dye and Rowand to drive in Pods and Urine. What am I missing, fellas? Saving money only helps if it is then spent on a player that will help the club. If they go out and get a good starting pitcher with the money they saved then I like the trade, if not then the trade sucks.

Tjones
wow if we get clement this is goning to be a complete turn around of our team from a power hitting team to a great pitching team, and i really like our bullpen now
CanOfCorn
this could also open up a Rowand trade...put Pods in CF with dye in RF and Everett in LF. Not that I want that to happen, but I'll wait and see who we would get for him if you package with Garland and a minor leaguer...

CWSGuy406
Who else has heard that we got ginter besides kalapse? I keep hearing it is podednik, vizcaini, and a player to be named later. If it's Ginter, Vizcaino, AND Pods, I'll sleep a little better tonight. Platoon Ginter at second with Harris, and 2B has instantly become a strength for this team. I dunno qwerty, I think Pod will hit a little better at the Cell. Plus, a single is almost always a double with him, which is a good thing. I've also said that to get to the playoffs, one must have an extrememly good bullpen -- and this move makes our bullpen very, if not extrememly good, IMHO. Overall though, I'm excited that a move was made, but I'm not very happy about the move itself...
Steff
can somebody clarify: DID WE OR DID WE NOT GET GINTER?? cuz i think that it makes a HUGE difference, and he is an IF correct? NO Not as of right now.
TheBlackSox8
I think Dye can put up 30 hr, 100 rbis in the cell if he stays healthy... there's your run production replacement. Still have Konerko, Everett, thomas...not too bad. go Kenny go!!! yeah..but thomas is out for a while...and when he comes back where the hell is Carl going to play....they're both DH's. qwerty
Mac, Jurko, and Harry are f***ing idiots. "Sox trade start OF Carlos Lee for Pods and a garbage reliever." So that mean no ginter.
Tjones
nah i think rowand will move to right and be a very good right fielder
LowerCaseRepublican
Can someone provide information on Ginter. I'm not too keen on this particular player. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6605 .262 avg 19 HR 60 RBI in 386 ABs.....333 OBP and .812 OPS in 2004
southsideirish71
Everyone needs to chill on losing our savior Carlos Lee. Everyone looks at his home runs and power stats, but forgets when he ran like a fool out on the basepaths, struck out with men on all during that Minny series because he was trying to hit an 0-2 count homer when we needed a base hit. Yes Carlos is a great talent, but he was always bullheaded on his approach. Remember when he changed his hitting style in the middle of the year because his power numbers were lacking. If we had the Carlos Lee who hit line drives and made contact during that stretch in August instead of power hitting softball players we might have made a run for it. I want more Arow type players grinders on this team. The power hitting theory doesnt work. I know we won the AL Central the last 5 years in a row but we need to change our philosophy. Everyone wants a change, but they dont want to change our players. These players have not changed their methods through hitting coaches after hitting coaches and manager changes. Maybe its time to look at the players and its good to change the dynamic. Now lets take that money and get Perez or Clement.

jackie hayes
Man, does this board overvalue Carlos Lee. I've said this before and it bears repeating... You aren't going to get much for a power hitting left fielder (and 30 homers at the Cell is nothing special). I'd really like to know what some people on this board think we should get for Carlos? Tim Hudson? Randy Johnson? Babe Ruth? Get f***ing real people. Carlos is not just some Deer-ish "power hitter". He gets on base regularly and has very low strikeout numbers considering his power. His k/bb ratio is also pretty good. That's valuable. We wanted to get better at obp and cut down on strikeouts. We just traded away Carlos for 2 guys who are worse in both areas. Yeah, Pods is fast. But a .313 obp out of a "leadoff" hitter is abysmal.
Y2HH
Carlos Lee AND Willie Harris for Pods, Viz and Ginter. That's the latest. And an offer to Clement for 27M over 3 years with 3M in incentive. -y2

AddisonStSox
Does this qualify as having exploded the dynamic of this ballclub? Have we officialy turned the page and dedicated ourselves to Ozzie Ball?

greppson24ottondo
ESPN.com has a headline that says the white sox joined the bidding for matt clement, but its one of their rumor central articles that you have to be a member for. does neone know who else is in the bidding and what the sox have offered. possibly a link to that article. Have we officialy turned the page and dedicated ourselves to Ozzie Ball? we've turned the page so we're not the homer happy club that has not won anything in 4 years, that's good enough for me. qwerty
Good thing he doesn't have to play CF then isn't it? He will play center with rowand moving to one of the corners. They have been wanting to get a ''true'' center fielder for some time to move rowand to the corner.
