Chisoxfn
That could cost up to $15 million just to lock those 3 players up. And the Sox have 10 mill free, which means if its 15 your at 80 mill payroll. But if they negotiate down somehow or backend a deal or two, thats another story. Or like I said move Everett for someone who has a little bit of a contract. You save two mill or so.
SoxAce
he eventually said that he can't deny they're looking at him cause half the guys in the room saw him talking with Matt's agent. Buehrle Garcia Clement Contreras Garland

Rowand44
This does not take away too much from the power that the Sox have. They'll still gonna hit 200 homers again...I just want them to hit for a higher average with RISP and have a higher team OBP and OPS, while having a stronger lineup 1-9 rather then having a s***ty 7-9 hitters and having one of the most dangerous 3-4-5's in the league. Hypothetically...here is a potential lineup... Podsednik - LF (.265 10 .340 OBP) Rowand - CF(.300 25 .850 OPS) Thomas - DH(.270 30 .900) Konerko - 1B(.270 40 .900) Dye - RF(.270 30 .850) Uribe - SS(.280 20 .850) Crede - 3B(.250 25 .750) Davis - C(.230 10 .650) Harris - 2B(.260 5 .650) If they were to do that...the starting lineup would hit 195 homers...and there is no doubt the lineup can do that. The power will be there...that is for sure. BTW...I do think there is a chance they could be looking to trade PK still. You trade him, you put Dye in the cleanup spot, slip Gload in at the 5th spot at 1B, and have Everett be a 1B/OF type. I am not sure if he's ever played 1B in his career, but it's not like it's a real difficult position to learn, and he could probably pick up on it quite quickly. You trade PK and you free up around probably $5-7 mill, depending on who you get in return. There are a lot of people now saying that, that lineup sucks, I actually don't think it looks to bad and I really like the way the one-two spots in the order could produce. Ya I think the 2005 bullpen will be one of the strongest in the league and probably the best we've had in a long time.

Chisoxfn
Remember Thomas is probably out till June so don't count him in the Lineup as a sure thing Thats according to Ozzie. Schneider says he's on track and should be near ready by the start of the season. So I'm thinking he's back by May 1st.

I've read where they think he will be out till May, but not June. I know it is coming along slowly...but June? Ouchers

SoxAce
Only hitter i can see hitting ove .300 would be rowand and that is far from a sure thing. Shannon Stewart is the only player on the Twins team that technecally hit .300 and he only had 300+ at bats. Ford batted .299 and he was the only one who qualifies to have a good amount of at bats. In 2003 they had 3. (I'll count AJ's 400 ab's) 02' they had only 2 (again I'll count AJ's ab's) The Sox have had 2 this year, 1 in 03' (Everett and Lee were close) 2 in 02. And of course the only thing the Twins have done is win the division from 01-now. What's your point? Sometimes change is good. They did it with one player and with less talent than us. I think and know we can as well.

The sox on the other hand, well, blow when it comes to bunting and moving runners over etc.

The sox on the other hand, well, blow when it comes to bunting and moving runners over etc. Which is why getting SPod in there is that much sweeter. We don't lose a beat on power even though Lee will be missed. SPod can get on steal a base(s), bunt, tutor Willie (god please do SPod), cause habit around the bases (like distracting the pitcher like Timo was doing last season) move runners along etc.. Minny did it with pitching too. I can guarantee you if we had a 5th starter, we would had made the playoffs.

Minnesota was on fire down the stretch, and really settled down to try and get healthy down the last 2 weeks. They could have won 90-95 games in all likelyhood. SoxAce
The only thing I hate about losing Lee is that he helps create that "Ozzieball" type. For a big man, he can swipe bases even though he had bad this past season. Well, on the bright side, SPod could steal 100 for us.
