JDsDirtySox
All along I prepared myself to see PK traded, and Gload as our starting first basemen. Since that didn't happen, I wonder where we stand now. Sure the Sox could still trade PK, but I don't think they want us to burn down the Cell, so that won't happen. Where then does Gload play? Sure he can play 1st if Frank misses any time in the beginning, and PK can DH, but then what? And on top of that, is Crazy Carl just a 4th OF? Did we resign Timo Perez? This trade leaves me with a lot of questions.
Chisoxfn
Gload will get some playing time, especially when Frank is done. He may also play a little OF (although I know that will uspet many on the board). Its quite possible Konerko gets dealt as well, but I'm assuming the Sox hold onto him. First I want to see the Sox pick up another starter.
KevHead0881
Hopefully it keeps Gload on the bench, where he's best suited for. Sorry, but I didn't see anything from him last year that convinced me that he was an everyday starter. I do like him coming off the bench though. fathom
Hopefully this trade keeps Gload at the position he should stick at....lefty off the bench who can fill in at first and possibly in the outfield. Timo shouldn't be resigned now, we really have no need for him.
3E8
Gload deserves more than the bench. You couldn't have asked him to finish the season any stronger while trying to prove himself. Remember, he starts the 2005 season with a 16 game hitting streak.
Rowand44
I love Ross and I think he can start but it looks like he'll be coming off the bench. We're going to have some good depth on the bench and ross can and probably will provide the solid left handed bat off the bench.

Gene Honda Civic
Would you have said that after Podsednik's rookie season? The difference being Gload was a .314 hitter in the minors.
JDsDirtySox
NO Respect for a guy who played his ass off when called upon. I think Gload showed enough to warrant more playing time.

I agree--all this talk about "grinders" and there's one on the team the whole time. He was a solid first baseman and a very quality bat. I really enjoyed watching Ross play and I hope there is a good place for him on the team next year other than just playing left out.
striker
I really want to see Gload start. All I remember is his clutch hit off probably the best reliever in the american league, Francisco Rodriguez. The guy batted .397 with runners in scoring position. He can field. You got to let him play.
3E8
This is my answer to your question 3eb. No, you said "What didn't he do last year?" You were not assuming that kid knew Gload's minor league stats. Podsednik had a better rookie season than Ross Gload. Therefore, you cannot call that kid out without being labeled a hypocrite. qwerty
owned. Alright, if you say so. After the type of season podsednik had in 2003 i would never say that he should strickly be a bench player. Same goes with gload, but he is really forced into it now. aboz56
Gload won't be a starter, so all of this talk is pointless. Book it.

JDsDirtySox
Gload won't be a starter, so all of this talk is pointless. Book it. No Kidding... But I am saying judging by his play from last year, he deserves more of a shot this year. As of right now he is probably behind Crazy Carl on the bench. Now ESPN news is saying we are going after more power? I gotta believe more of our hitting could still be on the move.

Podsednik had a better rookie season than Ross Gload. Therefore, you cannot call that kid out without being labeled a hypocrite. Gload had played 1 season in the majors and Podsednik 2, so it's not really fair to make a valid comparison. For all we know, if Glaod was given a regular spot in the lineup next season, he could flunk like Podsednik did in 2004, or Gload could hit .290 - .300 with 15 HR's. But if you go by minor league stats, then Glaod has the edge, he just didn't catch on with a team in his career yet.
