Steff
Ahh Honey I have an offer to go to southern california, basically we can buy any house we want on the ocean and put our newborn in private schools all our life. On top of that, we can even buy a house for your folks so they can live in the area, we still don't have to give up our house in chicago if you don't want to but the good thing is you can wake up to sunshine and shop till you drop on rodeo drive. What do you think? My wife would have gotten a lift with steffs company who would be moving us as we speak. the point is, I am sure they like the midwest and chicago, and I hope he stays here but all things equal the wife will not make this decision. You crack me up!!
YASNY
I have a very reliable source, who says the Sox #1 pitching target IS Hudson. They want him more than RJ. This same source also said that the initial contact between the Sox and Clement was made by Clement. Sounds good to me. Trade for Hudson, replace Garland with Clement. That'll work. southsider2k5
First we get pissed that the sox don't spend now we are unhappy that they are spending. Why the hell do we care if they pay him ten million. If thats what they feel will make the team better its there money. Can't have it both ways. That's the going rate today, if others are willing to pay that than thats what will happen. Its just one of those years. After Clement Perez's asking price will go up as well. Its the market, just like last year, there were a bunch of cheap guys out there. The market drives the price, whether they are worth it or not. 3E8
With 10 million I'd rather see the Sox sign Polanco and Pierzynski, then move Hermanson into the starting rotation.
AnthraxFan93
I want a pitcher, but clement is no where near a 10 million dollar pitcher. I agree, not worth 10 mil a year...This will backfire on us

3E8
I would rather see Cotts/Grilli/Diaz/Munoz in the starting rotation vs Hermanson. That's fine too, but Hermanson was an opening day starter two times before.
The Bones
move Hermanson into the starting rotation. No.
AnthraxFan93
Agreed. Trade for Hudson and give him a $12-13/year extension. This would make sense ANd we have KW as our GM Beane loves to bend KW over every trade

Dick Allen
That source is full of s***. Clement was called 3 times before he even bothered to tell his agent about it. Whatever you say. I can tell you my source is just as connected or even more than yours, and that is what he or she told me.
YASNY
Not only is Hermanson not what we need in the starting rotation, but it will also weaken our bullpen ..... which will need to be stronger because Hermanson is in the rotation. Hermanson in the rotation as an emergency fill in only.

beck72
Without knowing what Oakland wants for Hudson, how can you know that is the intelligent choice? If Oakland wants a package like AZ wants, plus Hudson wants a 5 year $15 million extension, is it still the intelligent choice? With as many unknowns are surround Tim Hudson, it is difficult to slam the Sox for not getting him. exactly. hudson and his $6 mill contract would look great onthe sox. But we don't know what the A's want. Probably too much.
3E8
How can we let this offseason go by without signing Polanco, you know? We have a huge question mark at 2B, and Polanco has been consistently good for seven straight years.

He's solid in the field and he'll be our #9 hitter. My biggest concern is that 5th spot in the rotation that has been a joke the past few years. LosMediasBlancas
this is expensive but we have to do it if we are serious. this is just how the market is this year. i mean if ortiz can get 27 mil, clement definitley deservves 30 mil. Exactly. Some Sox fans complain that we are cheap, well if you want a guy this off season, you HAVE to over pay, look at Benson, he set the bar. Now people will complain if we sign Clement that we over paid

Dick Allen
What is Oakland asking from us for Hudson? That I do not know. I posted all I know. It could be too much and they may sign Clement for all I know. RJ's price seems to be ridiculous. I was stunned when I was told this, but it would fit with "flying under the radar". quickman
We care that they overpay because unlike higher payroll teams we can not just absorb the salary if things go bad. SB so you think. your not the GM. Perez will go for 8 or 9 million same thing. I think we all like to play GM. Now we have an opportunity to have the best pitchign staff in the division. Since everyone is in love with Uribe and Harris. Then thats not a issue. The bullpen is taken care of. in fact I will contend you can traded neil cotts and not miss a beat. Only other hole is catcher which we can address now for 3-4 million or at the deadline if most of you on the board go to some games. Point is, the market drives the price. that's the way it goes, whether any of these idiots are worth it or not. If you don't get clement or Perez then what. Make a trade? then everyone will b**** your giving up the future. Get your pitcher, get your utility player and take your chances.
