Randy Johnson Trade Rumors

Would you be singing the same song if the Sox are tied with the Twins on July 30 and don't have any money left to go get someone else?

If Sox are tied with Twins July 30th after spending 6 million, then I'd hate to imagine our position in the standings without any FA signings.

I simply feel 6 million (or whatever the figure) spent upgrading C,2B,or SP would benefit this club.

yeah I agree... i think you have to do all you can to put yourself in position at the trade deadline.... man, they have to do something for that 5th starter

I feel the same way. Although I did not like RJ ending up in NY, I am calm now bcoz we wont lose all our good young players in the minors for him.

Exactly. Too some people, they think that we would actually get something out of him. He is 42 years old and you never know when his f***ing arm will fall off.

I'm just dreading another day off columnists and talk-show hosts ripping on the Sox for losing out on all these pitchers (KW did put pressure on himself by saying what he was pursuing though).

This may sound odd, but I think the Cubs are getting off light for non-moves... they couldn't land Kolb, they didn't even make a run at Edgar (and I know they signed Nomar, but I think Edgar longterm is a good investement), and call me crazy, but the Cubs should have been in on the Hudson trade discussions. You're telling me they couldn't beat the Braves package with their hyped-up farm system?? that's all I've heard about for the last 3 f***ing years....

Zambrano

Hudson

Maddux

would be insane... but the Cubs will get a pass

I hope that was just a random order for their rotation because Hudson would be their ace.

We should be worried about every pitcher we get then.

right... since there's no tone to these posts I want to preface this question by saying I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything... I'm genuinely curious...

OK, I see some of your points about how risky RJ was, and Clement too... but I would rather overpay for one of those two than lose out on everyone and run through the 5th starter fiasco again. So what is going to happen if/when the Sox run this team out on opening day? (other than spend some of the money for KW's security at SoxFest.) The team as presently constructed does not do a lot for me... I supported the Lee trade assuming KW was going to get a good starter for the rotation...

With Ginter going to Oakland -- I'm really curious who we will get as the PTBNL. I thought it was reported that it was not a prospect, but rather someone on their roster. I've looked at it and there isn't much to be had -- I thought maybe Brady Clark. He's a left handed bat, supposedly a decent fielder, but.....yet another outfielder. Hey, heres a thought....maybe its Doug Davis????

I can't believe someone said the Dbacks looked like a pretty solid team.  They are not that improved from last year when they lost 111 games

It's amazing what signing an injury plagued third baseman, an innings eating walk machine, a no-hit shortstop, a light hitting utility man, and trading your best player can do.
