Chisoxfn
Alright, someone may of talked this in another thread, but I am too lazy to go through and read through pages of RJ being dealt threads to catch up, lol. Anyway as someone who was long a proponent of getting Randy Johnson. I am glad that both him and Hudson are off the market. Think, if RJ was still out there or Hudson was still out there then Kenny probably wouldn't go gungho at Clement or Perez cause they weren't his first option. Instead those two guys would be off the market and the Sox would probably still be unable to lure either guy (whether they wanted Hudson or not, I don't know). With these two guys off the market, Kenny now is forced to focus in on the remaining pitchers and the trade front is closed. Considering he has money and has an up on Clement (since he wants to stay in Chicago) he should get a deal done. I'm hoping the Sox get the last call with a shot to match any offer. *crossing my fingers that Clement is a White Sox by tomorrow*

SoxFan562004
We'll see, it looks like the report of this deal may have been very premature... so it may drag on and on, and KW may want to stick around to see if he can be a part of it for Vazquez or something. But I agree with your general theory that this RJ thing needs to be OVER, either way, so KW can move on
Gene Honda Civic
I don't think this deal is done by a longshot. This could turn into the ARod deal last year.

Chisoxfn
Ya didn't realize that until I checked through the end of the threads. Well I hope it goes down just for closure. Plus the Dbacks did a pretty damn good job from what I can tell. Actually I think they'll have a decent team thanks to the deal.

SoxFan562004
I agree, but it could be that we end up being the third team. yeah, I can see that... actually afraid that KW holds off on other moves until this is resolved... which could be costly
Chisoxfn
Technically the Dbacks and Yanks may get antsy and let another team get involved to replace the Dodgers for a little less. Still, I'm not too excited anymore. I'd rather just get Perez or Clement and Pyrz.
redandwhite
A man named Lee Corso once said "Not so fast, my freind." Not that it matters, but this deal isn't done yet. Kenny should be sneaking in with talks to Florida about Burnett while this hold up is continuing.
Flash Tizzle
yeah, I can see that... actually afraid that KW holds off on other moves until this is resolved... which could be costly I don't understand why this is neccesary unless bidding for Clement is simply a ploy to suggest White Sox have considered other options. If Williams is confident his package might land Clement, it shouldn't matter what happens with Unit. Unless...signing Clement and trading for Unit (or Vazquez) is actually a serious consideration. KWs OK for Me
I think its time that everyone stops hoping for Perez. We have no shot at Perez. Once Clement gets sign, we have a shot at home only because he wants to stay in Chicago, how would be able to outbid either Anaheim or Boston? Its simply Clement or a lower tiered FA pitcher, not Clement or Perez, it is simply Clement.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
I totally think its a good thing. It forces Kenny to forget about that cockamaime scheme to bring him here and to get back on task with bringing someone like Clement here who can be had without making a team-busting trade. Soxbadger
I think the Sox still could get RJ, and that an offer of Garland, Everett, and choice of (Diaz, Munoz, Cotts, Borchard, or Marte) Could get the job done as LA's offer is slightly better, but is it $10mil better for a team that needs money. SB No. No. No. Forget about RJ. Wrong pitcher at the wrong time that costs too damn much in terms of players to bring here and opens up more holes than it closes. Punch and Judy Garland
Yeah let's not bring in RJ so that we can try to win the division with about 88 wins and be swept out of the playoffs.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Yeah let's not bring in RJ so that we can try to win the division with about 88 wins and be swept out of the playoffs. Yeah, lets bring him here so we lose Konerko's production and spin the roulette wheel every 5th day to see who starts for yet another season. Bring Johnson here under those terms and we'll be freekin lucky to win 88 games.
Soxbadger
Who is talking Konerko? Everett, $4mil to sit on the bench, maybe will outproduce Ross Gload, maybe will not. Gload playing 1b every day is much better defensively than Konerko, IMO trading Everett is not that big of a loss, as Dye, Rowand, and Pods are going to play every day. Garland, being upgraded to Randy Johnson. Garland is in his walk year as well, if he does dynamite it will cost a lot to resign him. Johnson brings dominance to a staff that needs a leader. Prospect from bullpen, with additions of Vizcaino and Hermanson are bullpen is pretty full, we can trade the depth for an outstanding pitcher. Is Gload that much better defensively that you can just wave good bye to 41HR'S and 117 RBI's like that? I think not. Between Everett and Thomas I'd be surprised if the Sox can get a whole season out of the 2 of them put together as broke down as they are physically. My biggest beef with this whole idea is that it does nothing to address the 5th starter problem which is what absolutely killed us last season and costs us too much in return. I am totally thankful the Spankees grabbed him up and killed this stink-bomb of a deal.

Everett is gonna be playing a huge role the first month or two with thomas being injured and all. Everett is gonna get enough playing time to justify his salary i think. I believe it is cheat who thinks he will get 450 at-bats or more.

Soxbadger
Gload replaces Everett. And I think Gload can produce as well as Everett if he plays every day. Also when and if Frank comes back you dont have to send $4mil Everett to the bench. SB

KW has made all the right moves so far this off-season and I think he has 1 more left in him.
CanOfCorn
RJ to the Yankees is probably 80% done. There are really only two things that could hold it up...Brad Penny's physical or Shawn Green waiving his no-trade clause. The second one shouldn't be a problem because the new prez of the D'Backs, jeff Moorad used to be Green's agent. If they do this deal, it looks like Glaus and Ortiz weren't such awful signings...they still overpaid, but they are going to be pretty good. KW should just let it go and move on...and why are we out of the Perez sweepstakes? Where did you find that?
