qwerty
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) That's not what you said. You made it sound like Kotsay is all he could be. Don't go back on that. Yes, i personally think he will be that type of player. But i never said that is the best player he can be.
YASNY
After aboz has his ....ummmmm.... discussion with KW at Soxfest, can we bury the Jeremy Reed thing? Who am I kidding? .... Everytime he goes 2 for 4, I'm sure it will be mentioned on Soxtalk. Carry on.
SuperSteve
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Thanks Dan, people assume too quickly that Reed isn't going to amount to more than Kotsay. These are the same people who have probably never seen him up close and watched this guy's fabulous, advanced approach to hitting and the way the ball just absolutely flies off of his bat. Here is the thing in my mind...what makes him a sure bet to be better than Kotsay? I say let him prove KW wrong on the field. And I love Freddy on this team. danman31
QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Here is the thing in my mind...what makes him a sure bet to be better than Kotsay? I say let him prove KW wrong on the field. And I love Freddy on this team. It wasn't the fact that he can't be great as much as the fact that people are labeling a player they have never seen play. I have seen him play about 7-8 games when he was up with the mariners.
danman31
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) I have seen him play about 7-8 games when he was up with the mariners. He hit .397 with the Mariners this September. What in the world in those games makes you think he is Mark Kotsay. :headshake
DBAHO
If the Astros trade for Randy Winn, it looks certain that Reed will be the center fielder for the M's in 2005.
Rowand44
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) If the Astros trade for Randy Winn, it looks certain that Reed will be the center fielder for the M's in 2005. I think he'll be the starting centerfielder regardless of Winn being traded or not, I think randy is slated to start in left as of right now for Seattle. DBAHO
Well now Bavasi doesn't look like he's going to deal Winn, so the Astros are going to have a find a run scoring outfielder elsewhere. But Winn looks like he'll start season in LF with Reed in CF, while Ibanez becomes the DH.
witesoxfan
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 19, 2004 -> 02:00 AM) Can you just imagine if Crede had been included into the deal instead of Reed though. We could have signed Corey Koskie instead of Jermaine Dye, and we probably could have gotten a better package for Lee, because we wouldn't necessarily still need a leadoff hitter, if we gave Reed the chance to do that. This isn't a knock against Crede though, I know a lot of people still believe he can produce one day, whether that'll be with us, I just don't think it will. Wouldn't of had to of been Koskie. We could have signed Smiley Randa too, and I would have been perfectly happy with that. Hell, we probably could have traded for him at the deadline, and then just resigned him. That would have left us money to still deal Lee for whatever, and sign Dye to play RF...or we could have not done that, and still come out on top. Regardless, hindsight is 20-20...and that trade helped us a ton. Win-win for both teams. Losing Reed hurts, losing Mo hurts...but that is s*** you have to deal with.
