Jordan4life_2007
FWIW, Milton declined 6 million from the YANKEES because he believed more money was deserving. Dumb bastard; playing hardball with the Yankees as if they're desperate for him. Wow, I didn't know that. f*** him then!

He is such a f***ing idiot. :headshake
YASNY
whatda u guys think about el duque? On the free agent market, he offers the most bang for the buck.

DBAHO
On the free agent market, he offers the most bang for the buck. Just throwing this out there; DePodesta said the Dodgers have several offers out to various free agents, one of which is believed to have been made to right-hander Orlando Hernandez, who has been offered arbitration by his former club, the Yankees. AddisonStSox
What a depressing list. Hopefully I won't break my ankles when I jump off the Kenny bandwagon.
YASNY
I think El Duque would come fairly cheap, and would damn sure make a solid 5th starter. I'd have more faith in him than Contrares.
DBAHO
how much u think we could get him for? Not sure about money wise, but he wants a 2 year deal; It doesn't look as if Orlando Hernandez is going to return to the Yankees. El Duque, who is searching for a two-year deal, has drawn interest from the Braves, Red Sox and Dodgers.
Rowand44
The thing that scares me about el duque is he spends more time on the dl then he does pitching, if the guy could ever stay healthy he's still a damn good pitcher.

Flash Tizzle
Just throwing this out there; LOL, now we'll lose out on Hernandez to the Dodgers. I seriously wonder what Williams plan is. His options are overpay for the remaining pitchers (NOT named Shawn Chacon) or sit on the money and risk unprecedented criticism. He has to figure out whether including Konerko in a potential trade for Vazquez signficantly improves this ballclub. Our rotation is complete, but now a huge power source is abscent from our lineup. Acquiring FA's is the safest route of improving your club while giving up the least (draft pick) in return.

I'm waiting for the announcement that Dustin Hermanson will be the fifth starter for the 2005 Chicago White Sox. This way, Kenny can sleep easy at night, knowing he brought in a free agent to pitch every fifth day. I really, really thought these fifth starter problems were a thing of the past. I truly believed Kenny was going to address that need this off-season. He dropped the ball big time. I hope he enjoys his last year in the organization. Southside hitmen
God all you people need to settle down and relax... KW didnt drop the ball their are still 4 quality free agent pitchers out there and if we sign one of them soon or make a trade for someone like a Washburn or Burnett. Than all the same people bashing KW now would be kissing his ass.. I cant believe how many wind socks we have here... Plus opening day is 4 months away it is not tomorrow so relax
Flash Tizzle
hey somebody give me stats of 5th starter since kennys been here All depends on who you desonate as the 5th starter. This distinction may change during the course of the season. Esteban Loaiza was termed White Sox 5th starter in 03'.

There is one real quality starter out there, imo. I'm still going to hold out faith that kenny fills this void but I'm not going to lie and say I'm optimistic about it, my hopes are dwindling everyday. I'd have more faith in him than Contrares. He wants two years guaranteed. I beleive Boston offered him a fairly lucrative offer, but he turned it down cuz he wanted the second year guaranteed. Sounds like another disgruntled WSI member jumped ship. Spring training may be four months from now, but the time left between now and then means nothing when the pitchers available are s***. Fine, approve a trade for Burnett and create a hole on another area of our team. Besides the bullpen, there's not one area of strength with the Sox. Get rid of Konerko, you've effectively lost three key members of your offense this offseason. Get rid of Garland, rotation is in shambles with medicore talent left over. We can't give up Andersen/Sweeney/McCarthy; need help from system to relieve pressure of signing high priced talent. It would be nice entering an offseason with one less concern because a minor league prospect is capable of filling it.

Southside hitmen
Flash you dont know we might sign Perez tomorrow just let KW do his job and if the roster sucks on opening day than bash him than.. Just because Clement went to another team today doesnt mean that KW will stop looking for a quality starter..
soxfan420
Why not Jose lima as our 5th starter? He is definitely better than our useless 5th starter options within our system Get Lima he blows in the AL, and needs a pitchers park to do anything decent. dmbjeff
We just need a 5th starter. RJ, Hudson, Vazquez would have been nice, but lets face it, we need another guy who can go 10-10 with an era under 5.00. MB, FG, JC,JG are all gonna be fine this year barring any injuries. We just need a guy who will throw strikes. I'm not so worried about the HR ball, if no one else is on base. So a flyball pitcher wouldn't be awful, we just have to make sure we don't over pay for him. Any of those guys would be fine, especially if we could get Nomo or ELo for under 3mil a year, that would be fine. They could then use the final couple of million on middle infield and catcher. Many of us Sox fans think that if we don't get the number 1 guy, we failed. Unfortunately in baseball the all-mighty dollar rules. So the Yanks, BoSOx, Dodgers, Mets, Cubs, etc have a severe advantage over us. We have to make the best of what we have, 65-75 million is what we have, it sad but it's oh so true.
