YASNY
Aboz .... good job, my friend. I was hoping someone would call him besides me. Doing so seems to have become necessary a lot more often throughout Soxtalk lately. People have to stop and think, these players, managers, coaches and even GM's are people too. These people have families also.
JoshPR
I think we souldn't go that personal with Players. It's a fact tho that Joe well hasn't paned out. Could be he turns in to a Jay Buhner type of player and develops late. Probably won't be for this team tho
Rex Hudler
But treating the Sox players like commodoties is the Soxtalk way, Yas. All you have to do is read all of the "this guy sucks" and "that guy blows" threads during the season. It's okay to get wrapped up emotionally in your team, but most of the people on these boards don't have a clue what these players go through and what it takes to get where they are and the pressures they are under. Sometimes people speak off the tops of their heads when it would be better to think a bit more. I think it has been established by more than just aboz on here (I can personally echo his sentiments) that Joe is a man of character. The Sox chose to give Joe the money he got and Joe has done everything he can to earn it. Unfortunately, things haven't worked out. Joe will be fine whether it is in baseball or whatever. hi8is
i never noticed that this was the caption on the chisox.com website "Joe Borchard is looking to improve upon his .174 average from 2004." BAWHWHAHAHAHHA thats just great! i mean, s***... if i was joe and i hit .174 i would be like... "god damn! I MEAN, GOOD LORD!!!! i ROCK!... no way am i ever... EVER gonna top that! BOOOO YAHHH!!!!" NUKE_CLEVELAND
Calling Joe B a piece of garbage and other bad things is too harsh. He does have a lot of potential and remember we all cry when KW trades away our prospects. Let's give the guy a chance. It ain't hurting anything to do that and maybe we will get a surprise. Potential is just exactly that. Show me something, you know, like being able to hit the ball consistently. I dont think that's asking a lot from someone who wants to play everyday in the MLB. We just unloaded Jose Valentin, in part, cause he K'ed too damn much. Team strikeout guru is one position on this team Id much rather see go unfilled. CanOfCorn
Let him sit in AAA, there's still always the miracle possibility that the light turns on and he is productive... Remember Shane Spencer a couple of years ago. Borchard could be a good injury replacement for a couple of months or playoffs, if we get there. southsider2k5
As much as I dislike Borch's play, he's a nice as hell guy. I was involved in this one thing during the BoSox series last year where you run out to a position and the player that plays there signs you an autograph, etc. So I was out in RF, and Borch was playing right that night. He was an awesome guy, really really friendly. Now if only he could start hitting. And to further add to this, Joe is also an incredible student of the game. I watched the hitting clinic he gave at Sox a few years ago, and he just blew my mind with the level of intimate historical knowledge he had. He had learned all of the classic hitting coaches, what their approaches were, and what he took from them. He might never pan out, but Borch has more knowledge in his jockstrap than 99.9% of people here have period.
