Mulder to the Cards

Uhhhh, because they hardly have any MLB expierence?

I don't see how an A's fan (some of you) could be thrilled with Beane trading two of the best pitchers in the AL.  Oh I forgot, A's fans get to look forward to Juan Cruz and Dan Haren for 2005 while the team goes from finishing 1 game out to potentially in the basement. I wish I were an A's fan right now.

Pretty silly that you would call some of us a's fans. Should we just neglect the fact that they have one of the best systems in baseball and are stacked for years to come? They knew they were not gonna win it all next year ( have not the last four years) so they figuresd they would cash in as well as they could. I can see people saying well prospects are just prospects and they are no guarantee. But i think it is a different story for beane, he produces players from the minors like no other. In my opinion the athletics will be in the playoffs in 2006.

Hudson is understandable, although I would of tried to sign Hudson before I traded for Kendal.

But Mulder is just puzzeling, not only was he signed next year, I think he also had a team option on the year after.

And I would not risk so many young pitchers at one time, consistency is a major strength of good pitching teams.

He has a team option for 2006.

Im sorry, but really there should be no circumstance where a team that wins 90 games should the next year just pack it in and not think they can win it all.

Also, if Beane is a GM that does not think he can put out a competing team each year, than he really is not as great as people think he is.

He traded for Kendall, is Kendall > Mulder?

And I have heard and seen a lot of stocked farm systems, it means nothing.

I mean if you could predict preformance based on rankings or ratings, then 1st round picks would always be greater than 38th round picks.

Personally, I think Mulder could win a few cy youngs.

I can't see how anyone with the exception of an A's fan would defend Billy Boy trading away his top two pitchers (two of the best in the league) with one of them still having an option left on his deal. I could see the A's doing these moves if Hudson was making $12 million, or the A's just came off a dismal season. They finished one game out, made a blockbuster trade to get Kendall, and then they dump their two best pitchers?!?!?! What sense does that make? Was Billy Boy intimidated by Seattle's signings of Sexson and Beltre? Was he afraid of Anaheim being able to free up a ton of payroll (Glaus, Appier, Percival, Guillen) and add guys like Steve Finley to their team?

I sure as hell wouldn't be happy to be an A's fan, and I don't know how anyone could defend Beane's trades after his team only finished one game out.

The a's have not gotten out of the first round in three of the last four years and did not make it last year. They were one game out like you said. Why should they be so optimistic that they would have gotten any farther than in years past? Keith ginter? I also think it is weird that he traded mulder since there is really no need to this year so that is why i think zito might also be moved. Not very likely though in my opinion.

Also, in the first half his home era was 3.21. The same exact era as his overall era in the first half.

What's your source on that? I went through his game log again and came up with a figure of 3.07. The only bad outing he had at home was against the Yanks (7ER.) That is still impressive for a pitcher in a non-pitcher's park.

Why the heck are the A's going this!? They need those 3 in their rotation! ugh!! :huh  :crying

the A's will not be able to hold on to them, when their time comes to be a fa's, so he traded them for a whole bunch of prospects.

again kw should learn something from him.

I added it up three times and got the same thing each time.
