Rex Hudler
Ad Aware?? I had to fix a computer at work a year or so ago and just lucky, finding the files that were causing the problem by just browsing the C Drive and the Program Files folder. I wouldn't go deleting things you aren't sure of, but other that that, I am not sure what to tell you. Depending on which version of Windows you are using, there is another way to find it. You'd have to go into the Startup tab in the System Configuration Utility and uncheck applications systematically until you find the one that is causing you the problem. In Windows 98, you get to that Utility by running msconfig. I am not sure how you find it in XP. That should at least give you a direction to go. AddisonStSox
Ok, I have some good news, and I have some bad news. The bad news is Ad Aware only creates worse problems by installing more third party software in your system. Stay away from Ad Aware by all acounts. The good news is your problem is completely treatable for the very reasonable price of $19.99. The product you need to buy is called Spy Sweeper and it is the best at thrid party software/spyware removal on the market. You need to run this program about once a week and it will completely clear out any spyware and thrid party software you have on your computer. Whatever you do, don't take it to Geek Squad at Best Buy. They will erase your entire memory and sell you Spy Sweeper. So, hopefully I just saved you some grief. AddisonStSox
Spy Bot works fine for me. Yikes. Thats a bad one too Kunckles. That also installs third party software. I'd be careful if I were you. EDIT: Any of the *free* spyware removals on the internet are bad news. Just fork over the twenty bones. Its well worth it. 3E8
I noticed there is a free trial of Spy Sweeper at download.com. I'm going to try it now.

Texsox
I did some searching and I cannot find any mainstream software site that talks about either of those two programs. If you decide to pay the registration fee, their additional features really are nice. If they are loading some 3rd party crap, they have fooled the the mainstream press.
