Wise Master Buehrle
Just finished watching "Shaun of the Dead". f***ing hilarious. If you're a fan of zombie movies, especially Romero's zombie films, this movie is absolutely great. In my opinion, the new Dawn of the Dead was funnier than Shaun of the Dead. Doesn't mean SHaun of the Dead wasn't bad for a few laughs. I was close to seeing Meet the Fockers tonight, but my f***ing girlfriends aunt had to be a f***ing c***rag and not let us see the 10:00 show. f*** her. :fyou :finger

KipWellsFan
Every goddamn Japanese movie has to have all this abnormal super hero s***. You're just saying that because the last 2 Asian movies to hit North American mainstream were Crouching Tiger, and Hero, with the soon to be released House of Flying Daggers. But there are obviously thousands of Asian movies made every year that don't have any superhero stuff. Check out Infernal Affairs a move that apparently just came out on DVD in USA. It's Asian and doesn't have superhero s***. It's also being remade by Martin Scorcese with Matt Damon and Leo DiCaprio playing the leads. http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/infernal_affairs.html And by the way Hero rules! edit: Watched 3 movies today. KipWellsFan
Have you see "The Killer"? (1989)? f***ing awesome Hong Kong film. Nope, actually I haven't even seen Infernal Affairs just providing proof that there are non super-hero movies in Asia. Have heard sooo many good things about the killer and is definitely on my must see list on imdb. In the last 2 months I've really gotten into Asian movies and have seen a bunch including Old Boy. This movie is amazing, check out the trailer. Also saw Ichi the Killer recently but that was almost too weird for me. Old Boy Trailer http://www.cinemas-online.co.uk/trailers/OLDBOY_FF.mov Ichi the Killer trailer (warning some adult content in it) http://www.ichithekiller.net/trailer/trailer_high.html Those are both in Quicktime, and the Oldboy trailer really doesn't do the movie justice. I could also see Oldboy being nominated for best foreign film at the Oscars this year for Korea. Oldboy Ichi the Killer

Actually that's less the the average vote it received at imdb which is 7. It's a moderately funny, worth watching once but not twice comedy. With some funny parts. For me this was no where near a 2. If you're looking for movies closer to 2, here ya go. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0326856/?fr=c2...fc=1;ft=21;fm=1 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266747/?fr=c2...b24_;fc=1;ft=20 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0282552/ Edited December 23, 2004 by KipWellsFan
Yoda
That's true, but it was the first action film to use the freeze frame effect that has become so popular in the superhuman martial arts films of lae. It was also the first film where the fight scenes were shot in multi-cam, with tight-, mid- and far- cameras filming simultaneously and the footage later edited together for a stunning cinematic effect. I understand that. I have a lot of respect for Akira Kurosawa. Yojimbo is one of my favorite films and without that movie there wouldn’t be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. And one cannot forget Toshiro Mifune.

THE Asskicker of Japanese cinema. And Kip -- I've only seen Audition by him. A friend of mine who is majoring in film studies had to do a unit on Miike and said his stuff was interesting but intensely graphic.

LowerCaseRepublican
I just saw Napoleon Dynamite as well. One word: Overhyped. It was good but damn were my expectations made too high. And as an aside, I also rented Cool Hand Luke -- I'm in the store searching for it on DVD and I go up and ask "Do you have Cool Hand Luke on DVD?" The woman looked at me like a dog that had just been shown a card trick. She'd never even heard of the film.

LowerCaseRepublican
yet asked if she had seen the Jackass where they tried to eat 50 hard boiled eggs, she would have told you that it was hilarious. Of course. The store had about 800 copies of Dodgeball and Anchorman yet no copies of "Taxi Driver", "Annie Hall", "Fistful of Dollars", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "Bubba Hotep" or "Brazil". Too bad it's the only place in like a 40 minute radius from me.

That's because "what we have here... is a failure.... TO COMMUNICATE!" What a long time it's been since I've seen that film. Gotta fix that.
