SnB
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 1, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) Meh, took way to long to get into the action and the movie ended way to quick, wasn't very well done if you ask me. The killing scenes were solid but overall it wasn't that good imo. I kind of agree. It was a decent thriller, but the ending didn't exactly sit right with me and it seemed like they really were just making it up as they went along. maggsmaggs
I saw Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (let the jokes begin.) Steve Martin was funny, but Eugene Levy's character didn't allow him to have his usual humor. Movie was pretty bad, but some hot girls (Carmen Electra and the Murtaugh's oldest girl, don't know her name.)
White Sox Josh
Finally saw 40 Year Old Virgin. It is funny as hell. What he says to the Asian woman during the body waxing scene was just priceless. Edited January 2, 2006 by White Sox Josh
whitesoxin'
Fun with Dick and Jane is downright awful. Don't see it. On the other hand, Crash is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It has a great plot with shocking twists.

LosMediasBlancas
Did anyone get out to see 'Hostel' yet? Review? Finally got around to seeing one that had slipped under my radar. 'She Hate Me', by Spike Lee. Good film, but seemed to shoot off into too many different directions and try to make too many statements at once, to the point where it seemed out of focus. Milkman delivers
I don't know if this helps, but my friend saw Hostel a couple of days ago. He said the gore wasn't as bad as he expected. He also said that the fingernail part in Syriana was worse than any torture scene in Hostel. And basically the first half of Hostel was a porn. sox4lifeinPA
Munich was the best movie of 2005. It was deeply moving and action packed. 2 1/2 hours that felt like 1. I can't imagine that Brokeback mountain could even come close. I have zero desire to see one dude fail to impregnate another dude.
bjm676
Being a Netflix member, I rarely go out to the theatres. So I tend to see a ton of movies in the offseason. The most recent I saw was "The Great Raid" about the WWII POWs stationed in the Philippines. It didn't get much box office. But, it was a great war movie and I was interested to see on personal level as well.
Chisoxfn
I ended up seeing Hostel last night. Its essentially a porn movie. Lots and lots of breasts in the movie (Lik the whole 1st half) and I can safely say that was the only decent part of the movie (the girls were hot). The movie had some laughs, but it was pretty pathetic. Oh and not that bad gore wise. One part was really gory and made the part of the body they cut hurt like hell. I'd say D movie at best. Speaking of NetfLix, they screwed up and instead of giving me land of the dead I got something like House of the Dead (or Cabin of the Dead). I only watched like 20 minutes of it, but it was seriously one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen (it dealt with these people on a boat that went to an island and zombies were on it). TERRIBLE.
BigSqwert
Hostel is definitely a rental. Took forever before any gore...at least 45 minutes into the movie and there wasn't enough for me. As soon as the movie started picking up it seemed like it was already over. Saying that, I still found it somewhat entertaining.
bmags
i think people shared how whoever that was felt about high tension. from what i hear the director got over his head but the last 15 minute retarded plot twist wasn't enough to ruin the extremely dark and doomed nature of the film. I think people liked the fact that there was absolutely no comic relief. um...i won't see it because i don't want to see another horror movie after seeing audition... daa84
saw hostel...its a terrible movie. its one of those movies that you see just to see. its not that the gore gets to you....its just that its kinda weird/creepy when they torture the people. at any rate...the first half of the movie is just to get people to watch because of the boobs and the second half is just to get people to watch because of the gore/torture. stupid plot that takes a long time to develop, and really poor job at developing characters, and yes it kind of just ends really fast...almost seems like were running out of film and just had to end it as fast as they could. i just thought it was alltogether a bad movie
CWSGuy406
Add me to the group of people dissappointed by Hostel. I'm not much of a movie person (going out to theatres), so I had really high expectations for this movie, especially with all the hype it's had. I was expecting a movie similar to Saw, and, in the end, it was worse. The girls were in Hostel were good looking -- so that's one of the few positives -- but I'd much rather trade that in for a better storyline/plot. Maybe it's because I went into it with a bad attitude, expecting not to like it. On the other hand, I was expecting Munich to be 4 stars and it's good, but not great. Give BBM a chance, you might be surprised. It's difficult to compare films head to head against each other, because the subject matter is so different and they aim to do different things. The Oscars should eliminate the best overall film award. By they way, thx for the 'Hostel' reviews, I think I'll skip it.
sox4lifeinPA
I"m a film guy and I like most things, except horror (minus zombie movies which I love)... In theory I want to see brokeback mountain, but I from what I've read I think instead of the main idea being about relationships and coping with lonliness, it's gonna be all about sex, which has been some how replaced 10 other things as the most important part of a relationship. If I made a movie about miss PA and I, from birth to death, I'd want the movie to be about the relationship as a whole and tastefully allude to any sex if that was necessary. Sex is a small part of a relationship, and it seems like they've made it a huge focus for this movie. I'm just not interested in seeing something like that. It's not the gay relationship, because I've watched and enjoyed many films with key characters that were gay. It's the necessity to emphasize the sex that I just find offensive. White Sox Josh
Confidence is a great movie. This movie shows why Dustin Hoffman is a great actor. He gives one of his best performances.
