Soxy
Saw Babel (not my choice, was my friend's week to pick the movie), and ugh, it was the most bloated, pretentious, predictable and boring movie I've seen in a long time. Seriously, that story editor should have been fired because it was at least 45 minutes too long. Blech. Only bright spot were the brief moments when Gael Gacria Bernal was on screen, he was, as usual, delicious. So for Babble, 2 thumbs waaaay down. sox4lifeinPA
QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) Never saw it. Paul Haggis is everywhere. Hated Hated Hated Million Dollar Crackbaby, thought Crash was so-so, and Flags of our fathers was a little better than that.
Chisoxfn
Was I the only person who was dissapointed with Casino Royale. I thought the new Bond was fantastic, the girls were pretty and yes there were some cool action scenes but half of the movie must have been a poker game (and if I want to watch poker I can just as well watch the World Series of Poker). That and I thought this movie severely lacked a bad guy. What exactly was Bond doing that was really "saving" the world so to speak. I thought this movie could have been one of the best Bonds ever (acting was very good) if it just had a little more depth to the story.

longshot7
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Anyone else excited for the Tenacious D movie? Saw it in June, and apart from Borat, the funniest movie of the year. And I'm not a D fan either. Loved the new Bond. There were definitely variations from the standard Bond template, but it was intended as an origin story, so despite not having a villain who wanted to destroy the world, it worked. Even with its wacky structure - loved the ending too.

LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Anyone else excited for the Tenacious D movie? What exactly about Jack Black is funny? Basically he's another fat, messy haired, coke head comic who screams a lot. Hmmm, sounds kinda like Belushi, Kinison and Farley.....except those guys were funny.
Brian
Saw Casino Royale with pops today. I liked it a lot. Very good chase scenes and action sequences. Guy walking out afterwards described it as "Too phony", and I was like "It's a James Bond movie. What does he expect?"
southsider2k5
I saw "Election" for the first time last night with Mathew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon, and it was way better than I ever thought it would be. It had a nice quirkiness to it, plus it was just dark enough to be pretty funny.

At least I'm assuming you watched it on VH1.

Soxy
I saw The Queen a couple of days ago. Some really good performances, Helen Mirren was AMAZING as Queen Elizabeth. The movie wasn't too long, it moved quickly and was, overall, quite enjoyable. I recommend it.
