P-Pod
does anyone know the status of Lowe? is he already signed, and if not how much is Boras demanding right now for him. i thought we had 10 mil and KW is not doing anything. there has been no talks about the white sox trying to land him and i was curious why KW doesnt push for him. He could fit well seeing that her is a ground ball pitcher and he has shown he comes through at the end of the season and playoffs. anyone have a suggestion and answer
AngelasDaddy0427
I sure as hell wouldn't mind Lowe... GET OFF YOUR ASS KW AND MAKE AN OFFER.
FlaSoxxJim
Lowe rejected the Red Sox' arbitration offer and will become a free agent after today if - as it seems - he doesn't take a deal from them.
southsideirish71
Derrick Lowe would be good. But god only knows what boras thinks his value is.
KWs OK for Me
Derrick Lowe would be good. But god only knows what boras thinks his value is. IMO Derek Lowe is not worth the money that he is demanding. For maybe 4-5 mil a year he would be, but not the 7 minimum that he is demanding. He put up a 5.5 ERA last year and had a winning record behind the Red Sox bats, not his arm. I don't think another inconsistent starter (getting at least 7 a year) is what the Sox need. The only upside is that he is a sinker baller and only gave up 15 hrs last year.
AnthraxFan93
Just a thought, If we are going to pay more $ for a SP, than what our current guys make.. lets make damn sure that he is better than the 2 at the top of the rotation. I would love to get Lowe here, I probally one of the biggest supporters for him.. BUt at 10 mil a year for the guy... Can he be a number 1type ?????Maybe Would he help the sox being a groundball pitcher??? Yes Would the Defense help him??? NO IF boras would drop his price, to say 5-7 than yeah sign him.. I just don't see that going down.
elrockinMT
D Lowe would be a good addition, but not at $7M a year. I wouldn't mind trying to bring E LO back into the fold. I think he would be willing to take a contract in the $2M to $4M and maybe less. It might be woprth the chance. I think his problem was a tired arm last year. He hadn't been real effective or pitched as many innings before as he did with the Sox in '03. I just feel he has a lot of upside and would make a good 4th or 5th satrter. Anyways I think this is a moot point, Derek is a boras client and he wants way more money then he's worth, I wouldn't mind him on the sox but it's not going to happen. Rex Kickass
I could go for an ELo as number 4. Especially if they would play ELO when he came out to pitch. That would be sweet. Its not about the stats. Its not about the wins or losses. Its about the intro music. Seriously.

AnthraxFan93
Why couldn't the defense help him?? 1b- Pauly- Avg at best.. 2b- Harris- Above AVg SS- Uribe- Avg 3b Crede- Very good If you noticed last year, when did Lowe turn his numbers around? After boston made the trade for Doug M and Caberea, beefing up there INF Def. Take a look at Boston Def once they made the trade and compare it to our current set-up..Lowe will lose more than he wins with this def. By turn around his season do you mean a 5.66 ERA in July, 4.2 in August, and a 6.4 ERA in Sept/Oct? If that's turning around his numbers I don't want to see what the rest of the season was like. I mean the 3.19 ERA in June with the "bad" defense seems pretty good to me, but thats only 1 month.
AddisonStSox
Can you say meow? Can you say Boras? Lowe will be pitching for the Detroit Tigers. EDIT: Don't let the post-season fool you. This guy is not that good all the time.
LosMediasBlancas
Oh how quickly the board's standards have fallen.
Sanjay2000
WE DO NOT NEED DEREK LOWE...We do not need to overpay for a pitcher with a 5 + ERA unless he's affordable...what you guys do not understand is that the way to win is not to invest all your money in one player at $7 million, but to sign two players with the money, for example, I think we should offer AJ Pierzynski for 4 million a year and then sign El Duque Hernandez to a one year, three million dollar deal with a mutual option for 2006...if we do that, our lineup is this: Podsednik, Rowand, Konerko, Thomas, Dye, Pierzynski, Uribe, Crede, Harris...with a rotation of Buehrle, Garcia, Hernandez, Contreras, and Garland...that's a great team right there with very very few holes...especially with our revamped pen...don't spend all your money on one player, spend it on a few and short term contracts...that way we always have flexibility and don't get stuck for years with horrid contracts (ie - Pittsburgh with Jason Kendall)
