The Angels are going to be tough, but a couple of key injuries and Seattle might sneak in the back door.
Flash Tizzle
Just announced on Fox LA radio. Looks like the deal is gonna get done after all, and they are expected to sign JD Drew in the process. What a concept. Maybe DePodesta will approve this trade, only to lose out on JD Drew. Dodgers fans will then proceed to claim he's overpaid, and not worthy of a long term investment. Off season sanity will be withheld with assurances DePodesta has other options remaining. Excuses such as "It's a long offseason," and "DP wouldn't sit on money" will be rampid. Eventually, expectations will fall and the same people who were expecting JD Drew are accepting mediocre replacements. I swear I've heard something very similar. Actually the funny thing is that it was exactly the fans reaction and season ticket holders writing/calling in and calling the team cheap and threatening to cancel their tickets that got this deal held up in the first place. Basically Dodger fans were making all of the exact same complaints that have gone on here....

Somehow, I believe Reinsdorf would be less than willing to budge if a similar situation were to occur, again.
raff
seattle will be able to hit, but they are shaping up as the new strike out leaders of the AL. they have no pitching, even if they get perez
JUGGERNAUT
I'm in agreement with most LAD fans here. How does this 10 player trade make any sense for LAD? There is no suitor for Vazquez. Not at the price of 35M. Someone please play the Devil's advocate here & explain to me how this makes sense for the LAD! NYY <- Arms RJ, Ishii + $3M from LAD ARZ <- Bat Green, & arms Penny, Brazoban, Weeden from LAD LAD <- Arms Vazquez, Koplove(ARZ) + prospects(Duncan, Dioner, Navarro) from NYY LAD shaves off a one yr cost of Green at 16M plus 4 quality ML pitchers to get a 38M cost for 2 struggling pitchers & 3 weak NYY prospects. Let's not forget that none of those NYY prospects were deemed good enough to start for ARZ. Doesn't it make more sense for the LAD to deal Green, Penny, Ishii+3M, & Weeden to ARZ for RJ, Koplove, + prospect? That gives them a few more bucks to replace Green's production & they get the best pitcher in baseball. I take comfort knowing that one of the big 6 is thinking like the CWS these days

southsider2k5
I'm going to go out on a limb, with nothing backing it up, and say they have a deal with the Cubs for Sosa I will be uber-pissed. But the sad thing is, that deal could work for both teams
