Winning Ugly
Apparently, Vaz was headed to the Sox, for who exactly we won't know. Fox sports radio LA just reported that Vaz didn't want to pitch for the Sox, which made Depodesta nix the deal entirely. :fyou too Vazquez. southsider2k5
That is the new LA spin on things. Everything out of Chicago indicates that the Sox weren't involved in this at all, as they were not going to give up Paul Konerko without getting offense in return. nitetrain8601
There was no deal in place for him to pitch with the White Sox. He didn't want to pitch for the Dodgers and that's part of the reason it fell apart. He said if he was traded to the Dodgers that he wouldn't report to them. The Sox and Paul Depodesta haven't talked since the winter meetings.

According to his agent, as I saw on Rotoworld, the reason he didn't report was because he was on vacation and didn't wanna come from his vacation early to report for a physical. Rex Kickass
Was listening to 66WFAN last night when I was passing out and I believe I heard the opposite was true, that KW wasn't willing to trade Paul Konerko to get Vazquez. The reason L.A. backed out of this trade is that they realized they were getting a sucker's deal and couldn't knock out the trade or two extra they needed to make up what they were losing. If they had made this deal, it would have been tantamount to white flagging the season before it started. At least thats what the latenight jockstrap said on the Fan. I added the word tantamount too. Sounded awesome.

His wife is from Chicago and he knows a lot of people in Chicago. The reports I have heard has been saying he did not want to pitch for the Dodgers. She goes home whenever he goes on a road trip and didn't want the long commute home (i.e. Chicago, I guess.) This was a reason he was balking at the trade.
