Are you kidding me???  Third place with the rotation of Randy Johnson, Freddy Garcia, Mark Buerhle, Jose Contreras, and Orlando Hernandez?  Tell me how would Borchard get playing time?

Welcome to LA's problem a couple years ago. Outstanding pitching with no offense. How many 1-0 games did they lose? A great rotation is good but you need some type of offense or else you will make a close 2nd in the division. Even if you do make the playoffs, to make it past someone like Angles, Yankmees, and Bosox is hard with no offense.

I trust KW when he says Koney is not going any where. The only time at which Koney was involved in ARZ trades is for The Big Unit himself. That's not an option any more, so that's not going to happen.

If NYY land Beltran they can supply the bat to replace Koney in the original trade.

My guess is it would be Matsui.

You're not really losing that much defense by giving up Everett, Marte, Anderson and Garland. Your lineup still looks solid, especially if you sign Eckstein:

Johnson

Garcia

Buerhle

Contreras

Hernandez

Takatsu

Vizcaino

Hermanson

Politte

Cotts

Adkins

Podsednik

Eckstein

Rowand

Thomas

Konerko

Dye

Uribe

Crede

Davis

Harris

Burke

Perez

Gload

Escobar

Jeckle: stop eating paint thinner. If you honestly believe, and I'm being dead serious here, that Jon Garland, the same Jon Garland that who gave up an OPS of .783, a WHIP of close to 1.4, gave more hits than innings pitched, 34 home runs, and an ERA of 4.89, then you may be swimming in the short gene pool. He has consistantly gotten worse, but that's assuming you can actually read stats which I severely doubt after you say Jon Garland is 10x better than Javier Vazquez.

Look at Vazquez' stats over the past four years. Last year was clearly an abberation. From 2001-2003 his ERA reads: 3.42, 3.92, 3.24. He had roughly 10K/IP in 2003. Yes, he had ONE bad year, last year. But you're willing to keep a guy who is progressively getting worse instead of a guy who almost won the Cy Young two years ago.

With any intelligence you sometimes display, you just back it up by posting this ignorant drivel that comes out like it's from an uninformed fanboy who couldn't seperate a bar of gold from a pile of s***.

My point is it's 10 times better to have Garland after this year at half the cost then to have Vazquez tell us to f*** off forcing us to trade him for a crappy deal after he has another suppar year. Your right I do think he's not as good as Garland. I don't think he can hack it in the AL and if Garland was in the NL and in a pitchers park he could outpitch Vazquez in less then 3 years. I sure as hell wouldn't give up Garland in addition to someone else for him.

Sorry Jeckle, even though I've had my differences with Cerb, I gotta hand it to him on this post:

See, I knew Alex would come around eventually! :D

Aboz, you heading to ST again this year? Maybe I'll actually recognize you for once...

Yes I will be there, March 17-23.

Going to get down just in time for the Cubs game in Tucson.

At least that is the plan.

What about you?

I don't think the Sox can afford to lose Konerko's bat now...

You’re absolutely right. The Sox already lost the names of: Ordonez, Lee, and Thomas, possibly till June. We need Konerko in this team. He’s a fan favorite and if he is traded then where is all of our offense going to be? I know we’re trying to build a small ball team, but we also need those three-run homers from Pauly.

With the signing of El Duque, I still think that its a strong possibility that KW could make another run at Randy Johnson.  He's signed a fifth starter, so Garland becomes expendable.  Garland, Everett, Marte and Anderson for RJ anyone?

The market has already been set. productive OF, decent SP, B Reliever...what you are giving is way too much. Garland, marte, and Everett for RJ...final offer, take it or leave it.

EDIT: If they want a prospect, they better ship some of RJ's salary along with RJ.

I posted this thought somewhere in these threads but want to go a little further.

It appears that KW is trying to get major league arms and hitters on the roster.

Think of the Bill Mueller, Miguel Cairo and Tim Wakefield's of the world.

You are going to win by having a solid major league team 1-25 not the hot FA or two of the week.

There is potential that on any given night Dye, Everett or Thomas is sitting on the bench late in the game and in NL parks, two of them.

Now if all of these guys are ready to go, Pods can be a late specialist if needed. This team is looking to be very flexible and fluid, especially if a Cora/Eck is brought in.

Hermanson fills the spot start if needed, something we have lacked since Sean Lowe and if a pitcher fails we can bail him out not continue to get pounded for 3 or 4 innings.

We are looking to have solid hitters that will not be shut out by a rookie. We appear to be adding veterans that can play the game.

Eckstein and 1 or 2 arms with experience to minor league deals and I think wea re going to be very good.

Think of a bench of Everett, Harris/Eckstein/Crede, Gload, Burke, and Perez. We need a RH here and this is pretty damn good.

Injuries are a part of the game and as long as they are not serious I think we are looking very good.

KW is goin to package JG and konerko possibly marte to AZ and get Javier via NY... i maybe crazy and i dunno bout payroll. BUT think of that staff MB, GARCIA, JAVIER, JOSE, and EL DUQUE. Now that is one hell of a staff and then get eckstein and maybe another reliever via the big 3 way trade.

kw has stated that he is not going to trade konerko
