A.J.
Now that we signed Duque, what do we have left to spend? Will A Rows contract affect the rest of our free agent money? Damn cheap owner. I hate thinking about this s***.

DBAHO
This should clear things up payroll wise; The move still keeps the Sox $2 million under budget after Carlos Lee and his $8 million salary for next season were traded to the Milwaukee Brewers last week. SoxFan562004
It's possible the Sox have a little more left other than the Carlos Lee money since I believe they were at 72 with Carlos... and the payroll was rumored to be 72-
Buehrle>Wood
Oh god people, JR is not cheap. We have have around a 73-75 million dollar payroll, which is good for about 10th in the league for highest payrolls, this coming from a team who constantly is in the bottom 10 for total attendence. bjm676
Is this still enough to lure Eckstein, though? That should be the question.

Hallelujah!! Are we suppose to spend 100 mil? You can win with 75 mil.

Huh? We were at about $63 mil before the Hernandez signing so add $3.5 and we're now at about $66.5 mil. Or did I read your post wrong and you think we're still going to add another $7-9 mil still. Our payroll last yr was $68 mil(minus any insurance money we got for Frank and Maggs).
JUGGERNAUT
We have to add a utility IF & a 2nd C. We don't have a 25 man roster yet & we don't have any ml potential candidates either. So that's going to eat up at least 2M more.

Guest JimH
They have a few million left. That's enough to get either Eckstein or Cora ... I'd like to see both guys added and get rid of Wil- oops, I forgot, it's the Xmas season and we should be kind to our fellow man. The other thing they need to do is bring in a depth catcher. The pickings are slim but I do anticipate them bringing in at least one guy on a minor league contract. For those wanting Greg Zaun (not a bad idea BTW), Toronto expects to get him re-signed. As it stands, the White Sox #3 catcher is, who, Ryan Hankins? They need a little more depth.

For instance If they really think eckstein is worth 2.5 instead of 2.0 they will get him. Anyway, we do need another catcher. I figure they will go really cheap. Brook Fordyce. not saying I like him but he could be had for 500k.
