EvilJester99
I must say that is rather disappointing....
southsider2k5
Not a big surprise honestly... St Louis needed him BAD. He'd be nice for us, but not a necesity. I'll bet they paid up, and a 3 year contract is proof.
CSF
:banghead Oh well. Come on, Alex!
aboz56
Not surprising, I don't blame the guy, it's a better team and they most definitely offered more than we did if I had to guess.

bulokis
What? I was really excited that we may have him on our lineup.
Texsox
My local station reported a couple days ago the Cards were going to aggressively go after Cora and Eck to shore up the middle of their infield. I get a far amount of NL Central coverage because the Astros are about 300 miles north of me.
EvilJester99
so more than likely the only chance the Sox have to get Cora is Joey Cora...more or less. I would bet he will be a Card soon as well then.

EvilJester99
No worries though... come August the Sox will get Robbie Alomar again!! :puke
A.J.
I was not thinking we would get Ecx. I have a good feeling about about cora though.
SnB
damn, i thought we had a pretty good shot at him. is cora our only other option?
SoxAce
I knew it. C'mon Cora. Have my doubts though. IMO, I think the Cards get Cora too. We got a good shot though.
FlaSoxxJim
Damn. I would have loved that pickup. Now I jump to the Alex Cora bandwagon.
chisox2334
go sign grudz/cairo/cora.
BobDylan
Damn. I would have loved that pickup. Now I jump to the Alex Cora bandwagon. Cora and his .246 career batting average don't excite me. Somehow I think Willie Harris can hit that and steal more than 3 bases.
fathom
No way we were going to give him a 3 year deal, and St. Louis can offer him a guaranteed starting spot. At least he'll hopefully torment the Cubs now.
Chisoxmatt
We might as well just stay with Harris or go after Cairo. Cairo has a career .273 AVG, but has a low OBP of .327. Cairo is still more consistent than Cora who has a .246 carrer BA. I dont see any reason to go after Cora when we can get Cairo.
BobDylan
We might as well just stay with Harris or go after Cairo. Cairo is better than Cora. Agreed. Looking at Cairo's numbers last season (granted, he had some of the leagues best protection) it's a no brainer.
Rowand44
Disappointing but not surprising, I really hope we can get Alex now.
Chisoxfn
Why are the Cards going to regret a contract that at most is probably worth 1.5 - 2 mill a year? Especially since they think he's going to do the job next year. Please, maybe a team with a 30 mill payroll would be upset over a deal like that. Rotoworld says some funny things when they rip on teams, but overall I think they are retarded.
Punch and Judy Garland
i'm glad we didn't get him, we can use a SS with a man's arm.
SoxFan1
Darn those Cardinals. I really wanted Eckstein. Damnit Im pissed. I'm looking to sign Cora now but if all else fails, I'd prefer Grudz. In order, I want (depending by the situation): 1) Cora (If we're looking for a 2B/SS) 2) Grudz (If we're looking for a 2B) 3) Cairo (If all else fails)
