this game has nothing to do with Koch or Jerry Manuel, the defense was bad and didn't do the job.  Jimenez, Valentin, Crede, Konerko (ESPECIALLY) were just bad today.

as far as Koch vs Foulke.  who is to say Foulke wouldn't of done the same thing?  like he never had meltdowns with teh sox.

what a minute..valentin's error came on a play with runners on the corners and two outs..he went way into the outfield grass towards third base and tried to make an off balance spinning throw to get the runner at 2nd..if he makes the play he saves a run...if he puts that ball in his pocket (like royce clayton would have) the runner on 3rd scores anyways...jose was trying to make a spectacular play to save a run...you cant blame him for that..runners moved up to 2nd and 3rd but didnt score..

jose has two homers and a triple...cant blame him for anything

You guys are all missing one thing. When they had runners on first and second with one out. Someone hit a hard grounder to Crede. He ran to third got an out and then gunned to first but was late. Had he gunned to second and then Jiminez went to first, given all was done nice and neat, we would have got the dp and ended the inning. A rookie mistake cost us this game. But the bullpen also sucked. Tom Gordon struggled, Marte did ok, and Koch just imploded. I still think we can recover but getting swept by KC is not a good way to start the season...

And I guess thats the end of the venting thread... :(

Wrong. The game was over when Sweeney was not called out.

Wow, you guys need to take the bad with the good, you can't just give up on this team after one series (or one player). Hell they can come back to sweep the Tigers and we'll be 3-3. Most of you sound like bandwagon fans right now...

Who the hell is giving up on anything..??

I always half expect Billy Botch to blow games, I saw it in Toronto all the time. Why does saying Koch sucks not make me a fan of the team. I can't cheer when they win because I'm pissed when they lose. I'm flying 3000 miles to watch them play tomorrow and if they play like they have I will tell them all that they suck. Once they stop sucking I'll share everyone's joy in cheering wildly, but for now they certainly suck and we are all entitled to say and know that!

Thats right. Sweeney was out. Too bad an incompetent Royals fan is the first base ump. Lousy calls hurt us last year and they are hurting us again this year...

Any ump who strikes for money deserves a punch in the head. They all stink...

I'll respond to each of you in turn...

Steff,

No Im sorry Im pretty sure that my reading comprehension is not in question. If you would like me to quote every single time a poster said some one or the White Sox sucked with out a qualifiying statement I gladly will. But Im pretty sure that some one of your intellect can go back and read the thread and see for yourself.

You can keep your opinions, but I will not personally attack you so long as you keep the same standard with me. My intelligence has nothing to do with this arguement.

;)

Baggio202,

Unfortunately Im currently enrolled in college and can not make the game at Comiskey due to prior committments, class. If I was able to I would be there every game, but it does not work for me. So I do the best I can and watch every game thats on television and read every game that is on espn. So if my fanhood is not up to par because I go to college, then so be it.

As for a Cub fan, you can ask my roomate an avid Cub fan how many times I berate him on a daily basis. Or even how many times I go after my girlfriends parents, or any other Cub fan I can get my hands on.

Soxfest,

No I disagree, they do not deserve comments such as they suck and that they are never going to recover.

Its a 162 game season, if we dont believe in them who will?

If we the people that consider themselves hardcore Sox fans wont give them a break, who will?

Have you ever had 3 bad days in a week, 3 days you wish you could take back?

But no all of you are perfect.

So keep attacking me, atleast your venting your anger at a target thats not the White Sox.

Now maybe some of you will go jump on the Cubs bandwagon, I hear they are 2-1 and Prior pitched lights out. Even better theif offense has been amazing.

So after 3 games I declare the Cubs champions over the Sox.

::note the sarcasm::

This is foolish, support your team, they will respond.

I know I may seem really pissed off right now, but heres the question...who the hell isn't?? I have a right to be pissed off when my team plays so bad that my son's t-ball team could beat them. I'm not giving up on these guys, they have so much talent and will come back. However I am giving up on Jerry Manuel, the guys don't seem competitive or motivated at all over the past few years. We need a guy that will motivate them as much as possible. A good example is Tony Peña.

If and I say IF they lose 2 out of 3 to DET, I think you have to really think about firing JM, it is the only thing Sox fans will hold on to for a little hope.

bulls***.

Fire a manager after 6 games?

I'm not happy with the way this game has gone. It sounds like the players need to look insides themselves right now.

I would not attack you.. if you took it that way my apologies.. but I am on board with baggs in saying that I didn't get that anyone was throwing in the towel after 3 games. Perseption is ones own reality. You have yours and that's your right. But I would appreciate it if you didn't generalize.

Thanks,

Exactly cw. The errors made on the field the past three days were fundimental errors. They need to get their heads out of their butts!

id say this...if youre not pissed off at what we just witnessed the past 3 days then maybe your sport should be golf or something

its not like we are the yankees who can start the season 0-21 and still come back and make the playoffs..and win the series...and even then yankee fans go nuts when they lose 3 in a row..

we have all seen this before...remember '01???...

is anyone watching the post game show...bill melton is going nuts right now....anyone wanna say he isnt a fan of the sox???

all the hot firey managers haven't been winning world series -

this isn't a make for tv movie where the coach comes in and gives a win one for the gipper speech and everyone goes rah rah and runs out and wins the big game

the hotter the light the quicker it burns out

the players are all professionals and need to look insaide themselves

a 3 game losing streak will happen in any championship year

it really hurts when it starts a season that we have such expectations for

but panic and change everything after 3 games is not leadership, it is - panic.

Actually I'm beyond pissed, I turned it off after it was 10-6, Now I look and see there were more errors and runs. This team needs a motivator, Jerry Manuel just yips at a umpire once in awhile and that's it.

I don't know that JM is on a short leash, I am not privy to the inside thoughts of KW and JR.

.02% of the season has been played

it wasn't JM who made the errors or gavce up the big hits

the players did and either we all over rated them or they will respond like the professionals that they are paid to be

there is no "point" and yes if the team flounders and flounders then a change needs to be made - I think it is way too early to thgink we've reached the point of anything except maybe our players need to know, have learned, that no one is going to give them anything and they need to go out and earn their victories.

cw....whether he is passive or firey doesnt matter to me...both styles win and both styles lose..i dont blame today's loss on manuel...the players gave this one away...but manuel played a part in the first two losses with very questionable moves..

manuel hasnt motivated this team for two years now...they have underachieved both years...talent wise this team is the best he has ever had...if we get off to a slow start he has to be replaced before the season is lost..

how many times do teams respond to a manager change???..it comes as a wakeup call top the players...if we start out like 5-10 this year that might be exactly what the team needs.

i would have fired manuel last year when we white flagged the season...so if we fire him today id have no problem with it

Konerko's range is now REALLY starting to scare me. two plays now he's gaffed

The only people who don't know how bad he is defensively are the ones who only watch BOXSCORES and not actual games. Take that definititive blown save against Minnesota in 2001: Konerko doesn't get a single error but his no-range, no-bend self cost Foulke the save and us the season with two UGLY infield plays. Today he could have easily been charged with 3 errors (if you count the plays where Jimenez outran him all the way from second base in the foule territory as such and you should...btw 2 runs scored after that, lol) if the offical scorer had any balls. Details would be forgotten at the end of the season and people would start once again going off about how "solid Paulie is defensively look at his low error total"

"...PK needs to shut the f*** up and start laying off breaking stuff in the dirt and fastballs under the hands and play some effin' D. With the stuff they were throwing him, hitters like Sweeney would have had 2 homers and 3 walks by now.

Meanwhile all Jose (who people bash incessantly about his mediocre, yes, but certainly not horrid D.) did was range far to his right to get to a sure run-scoring single and actually keep it on the infled (OK, the throw was ill-advised as the run would have scored anyway...). His error as in the first game DIDN'T COST THE SOX. Sure if you want to argue that such gaffes make a pitcher throw extra strikes/unconfortable, go ahead...but I wouldn;t ignore the facts which point to most of his errors somehow being not damaging. In any case, his clutch bat almost won us a game. Almost.
